avmcroxrcONrArnEn AND nisrnns'E-Rj This invention relates to match boxes, and has for its object the provision of a box of this character constructed to'be used as a dispenser when hooked upon a wall or other suitable support, :and from which the matches can be conveniently extracted when their useis desired, the invention residing in I the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.

Referring to the drawings in detail, A indicates generally the match container, while B represents the cover of the box.

The container is formed from a single blank of material as illustrated in Figure 11,

' and which material is folded along predetermined lines to provide a rear wall 10, op gosed side walls 11, and upper and

lower end walls

12 and 13 respectively. The upper end wall 12 is provided with a slot adjacent its sides as at 14., and these slots are adapted to receive pointed flaps 15 which project from the adjacent ends of the side walls 11 when said flaps are folded over the end wall 12, to assist in holding the parts associated. Also depending from the lower 'ends ofth'e side walls-11 are-similarflaps 16 which fold inwardly to lie upon the up per slde of the bottom wall 13, when the blank 1s folded tonform the container.

These flaps 16 are of course substantiallycluding the wall 13 above described, while the other section is indicated at 13 and carried by an extension 19- which normally projects laterally-- from one of the side walls 11 of the container as shown in "Figure 11.

This extension 19 is adapted-to extend transversely across the front of the container when the blank'is folded to produce the latter, and is provided with a bendable end portion-20 which lies inparallelism withthe opposed side wall as clearly shown in the drawings. The section 13 of the bottom is then folded at a right angle to the extension 19 to underlie the end wall 13 above referred to. The section 18 of the bottom wall is provided with spaced pairs of slots of relatively different lengths, one pair of the slots being indicated at 21, and the other pair of slots at 22. When the section 13 of the bot tom of the container is arranged in overlapped relation with the bottom-wall 13, the

tongues 18 are inserted in the slots 21 thereby holding the respective sections of the bottom wall of the container associated. hen the match box is used in the capacity of a dispenser, in which instance the container is slightly lowered within its cover, the tongues 18 are separated from the bottom wall to be divergently disposed as clearly shown. In this instance, the extensions 16 are arranged at proper inclinations with respect to the side walls 11, so that the T- shaped tongues 17 of said extensions may be received by the slots 22 to hold the respective sections of the bottom wall divergently disposed. It will be noted that each section of the bottom wall is cut away as at 23, so that when the said walls are divergently disposed these cutaway portions unitedly define finger receiving passages, so that the .tainer is madeup of twosections, one inmatches from the container can be easily extracted through the space between the adjacent ends of the divergently disposed bottom wall.

The cover of the match box is of rectangular formation in cross section, and is open at both ends to slidably receive the container just described, and the rear wall of this cover is provided with an opening 24 so that it can be conveniently supported upon a wall or other support by means of a nail or the like. The opposed side walls 25 of this cover are cut away adjacent the lower ends thereof, to provide hook like members 26, and these members are adapted to be received by slots 27 formed in the opposed side Walls 11 of the container, in order to support the container upon the cover when the match box in-its entirety is suspended from a wall or support for use in the capacity of a dispenser. The box in its entirety can be very cheaply manufactured, inasmuch as each is cut from a single piece of card board or the like and puttogether in the ordinary manner, and the purchaser of such match boxescan very conveniently separate the sectional bottom of the container, and arrange the respective sections in divergent relation in the manner and for the purpose above described.

While it is believed that from the foregoing description, the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to What is herein shown and described and that such changes may be resorted to when desired asfall within the scope of what is claimed.

Having thus described the invention, 1. claim In a container, a body portion formed from a single blank of material folded along predetermined lines to provide a rear wall and opposed side walls, the upper end of the rear wall having an extension forming an end wall, the other end of said, rear wall havingan extension forming a bottom end wall, the upper end wall having a slot therein adjacent each side, pointed flaps upon the upper ends of the side walls adapted to be passed through said slots and folded upon the upper end wall, V-shaped flaps at the lower ends of the side walls, T-shaped tongues projecting from each side of said last-mentioned flaps, oppositely disposed tongues at the lower end ofthe bottom wall member, said bottom wall member having a slot adjacent each side thereof, an extension projecting laterally from one edge of one of the side walls, said extension being formed with spaced pairs of slots of different ill lengths, said extension and bottom wall 7 member having inwardly extending cutaway portions and a bendable portion along the outer side edge of said extension, and a cover designed to slidably rceeive the container as and for the purpose set forth.
