COUPON BOOK.

My invention relates to improvements in couponbooks and has for its object the provision of an improved constructlon of this character containing severable coupons or tickets for various purposes.

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this speciiication, and in which,

Fig. 4 a plan view of one of the coupons detached from the book.

The preferred`form of construction comprises a plurality of leaves or sheets of paper bound together in book form between an upper cover member 5 and a lower cover member 6, said cover members being preferably of heavier and tougher paper. The covers and leaves are bound together by wire stitches or sta- ples 7 and 7 extending around the edges of one end thereof and forming a binding at this end of the book. Each of the leaves of the book-is divided into a main leaf portion 8 and a severable coupon portion 9, the normal juncture having been completely severed along the and partially severed or weakened along the lines 11 and 12 and whereby the coupon 9 is rendered readily severable from the re` mainder of the leaf. It will be noted that the stitch 7 is inserted so that one portion thereof passes practically through the line of easy severance 12.4 thus further facilitating severance at this point. It will be noted that each coupon is thus provided with a portion 13 which is concealed in and protected by the binding together of the leaves and by the adjoining leaf and cover portions. Each leaf is provided with 'blank lines 14 for the insertion of the name, address and other data by the purchaser, and each leaf and coupon is provided with an identical identification number 15 as shown, The

especially for the sale of tickets for club and charitable affairs in which an element of chance is included. For instance the concealed portions of some of the coupons may be printed with an indication of a gratuitous prize to be given away to the pur- Chaser of that particular ticket. And if desired the concealed portions 13 may also be printed with various sums indicating varying purchase prices so as to introduce this element of chance also into the purchase. By this arrangement a coupon book is provided having severable coupons or tickets and each severable coupon or ticket having a concealed and protected portion whereby an element of chance may be readily introduced into the transaction represented by the coupon. The specific form andarrangement of parts is a simple and eective one for the purpose.

While I have illustrated and described the pre erred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come Within the scope of the I appended claims. l

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A book comprising a plurality of leaves bound together at one end in book form, each of said leaves being divided into a main leaf portion and a, severable coupon portion both projecting from said bindmg, the normal juncture between said coupon and said main leaf portion being weakened to facilitate ready severance of said coupon, said coupon 1being provided with a portion extending` into and concealed and protected by said binding, substantially as described.

2. A book comprising a plurality of leaves bound together'at one end in book form, each of said leaves being divided into a-main leaf portion and a severable coupon portion both projecting from said binding, the normal juncture between said coupon and said main leaf portion being weakened to facilitate ready severance of said coupon, said coupon being provided with a ortion extending into and concealed and) protected by said binding, each main leaf being provided with appropriately designated blanki spaces for the insertion of a name and address and each coupon and main leaf portion being identically marked, substantially as described,

3. A book comprising a plurality of leaves and two cover members therefor; Wire stitches binding said cover members and leaves together at one end, a coupon form on each of said leaves, each of said leaves being divided into a main leaf portion and a severable coupon portion both projecting from said binding, each coupon portion being partially severed from the mainleaf portion but detacliably secured thereto, each coupon portion being provided with a portion extending into and protected and concealed by said binding, each of said coupons and main leaf portions being identically7 marked and each main leaf portion being rovided with an appropriately designated blank space for ldie insertion of a name and address. one of said Wire stitches extending through said leaves at a point of weakened union between said coupon and main lcaf portions` substantially as described.
