The invention relates to, shade hangers, and has-for its object to provide a device of this charactervfo'r supporting a which be easily an on a window frame position ring the further object is to provide a shade supporting device comprising rl quickly shade, and placed in without marfacing of the window frame.v
window axially alined rods having their outer ends provided with hooks adapted to opposite sides of a contract ends of axial relation by means of space -a shade Ai further object is j ust ably ible spring conne be imbedded in window frame and a cting the inner said rods, said rods bein@` held in eyes on receiving strip suspended beneath the rods, and adapted to engage the facing of awindow frame.
to provide sleeves admounted on the inner ends of the threaded into the outer convolutions of the contractible spring,
the rods.
securing the ends whereby the tension of i' spring may be means whereby the device may to window frames ofd With varied, and
iiferent of the spring to The adjustable sleeves form means the contractible the spring forms be attached widths.
the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the arrangement of forth, shown in claimed,
parts as in the precise embodiment may be made wi claimed Without departing of the invention.
In 'the drawing z-k Figure tion of l Figure of a window frame and the drawing,
understood that changes combination and hereinafter set described and of the invention thin the scope of what is from the spirit by means of set'screws A for varying the tension of the coiled spring 6. Sleeves 4 are provided with reduced portions 7, which are threaded, and onto which portions the end coiivolutions '8 are threaded for connecting the coiled spring to the sleeves, therefore it will be seen that when the sleeves dare moved away from ,eachv other thecoiled spring 6 will be stretched, and the contractible force thereof will hold the sharpened ends 9 ofthe hooks 10 carried by the outer ends of the rods 3 in imbedded engagement with the outer sides of the vertical facings 2 of the window frame. By providing the coiled spring `6, it is obvious the device will accommodate itself to window frames of different widths, and at the same time the adjusting means allows the contractible force imparted on the hooks 10 to be varied.
Suspended beneath the rods 8 is a horizontally disposed member 11, the upper side of which is provided with spaced eyes 12 through which the rods 3 pass, therefore it will be seen that with the rigid member 11 and the spaced eyes 12, the rods 3 will be held in axial alinement at all times, and the member 11 will engage the outer sides of the facing members 2, whereby, when a pull is imparted on the shade 13, which is supported in conventional forms of shade brackets 14: carried by the` rigid member 11, the shade will be rigidly held, at all times, especially during the unreeling operation, at which time a downward vpull is imparted on the shade. When the shade supporting device, as a whole, is not in use, the contractible spring 6 will pull inwardly on the 1 is a perspective view of a porv a conventional form of window frame, showing the shade supporting device applied thereto.
2 is a ing device.
Figure 3 through has been Referring to the drawi designates a conventional form of window frame and 2 the ver stretched and is a longitudinal the contractible spring the adjustable sleeves.
side elevation of a portion e shade supportbefore it of, the numeral 1 tical side facings thereof.
The shade supporting device comprises axially alined roun ends of which have a thereon sleeves 4i, which .ons positions and held in a d rods 3, the inner adjacent djustably mounted sleeves may be adthe rods 3 to varidjusted positions p member, at which sectional view ladder as is now the common rod 3 and the prongs 5 may be placed in engagement with the ends time the hooks 10 are in the same plane as the rigid member 11 consequently the device may be easilyl packed in quantities for shipping or storing purposes, and at which time the device is preferably shipped with the shade brackets 14 olf the strip 11, thereby conserving space in shipping. It will doe noted that the brackets 1t may be properly positioned be fore the device is placed on a window, therefore it will not be necessary to stand on a difficulty with shade brackets. It will also be seen that the brackets can be accurately positioned, and thev device accurately attached to the window frame with the shade in position.
From the above it will be seen. that a, winf lill) dow shade support is provided., Which is simple'in Construction, compact, posicive in iis operation and one wherein the. marring of the facing of the Window frame is obviated.
The invention having been'set' forth what is claimed as new and useful is l. A shade support comprising a shade' receiving rigid member, axially alined rods slidably mounfed in spaced bearings earried by the rigid member, a eonLra-Ctble coiled spring connectingv the adjacent ends of' Jche rods and means carried by the ouer ends of the rods andl adapied to engage op posits sides of a Window frame.
fr. shade supporting device Comprising a rigid shade receiving member1 spaced eyes carried'by the upper side of said shade receiving member, axially disposed rods slidably. mountedin said eyes sleeves adjustably mounted on lie inner ends of said rods,'a11d a coiled spring connecting said sleeves.
3. The' combination With a shade receivrigid member, of means for attaching said'rigid member to a Window frame, said means Comprising axially alined rods carried by the rigid member, means for guiding' said rods in parallel relation to the rigid member, sleeves adjustably mounted on the rods, a contractible springinto which the ends of the rods extend, the ends o said spring being anchored. vto the sleeves.
