Specificatitn forming part of Letters Patent No. 169,134, dated January 26, 1875; application filcd t,

To all whom it may concern:
Combination-Tool, of which the following is a specification My invention relates to that class of instru{ ments known as compound tools, which include several separate tools, each designed forsome particular use; and it consists in a novel construction and arrangement of the parts; and has for its object to produce a compact pocket-tool applicable to a variety of uses as a new and improved article of manuiacture, as will be fully hereafter set forth.
The drawing is a perspective View. A is the body of the tool, serving'as its handle, which, in transverse section, is made rectangular, and has the longitudinal groove a in its upper edge, while on either side it is laid off by suitable lines into a scale of inches, thus forming a rule. At one extremity the tool is tapered off to form the screw-driver B, while i at the other end is a small rotary cutter, D,
pivoted in the'slotb, and having an angular or sharp edge for use in cutting glass, paper,
leather, &c., by-rolling over it. E E are slots" of different size for breaking glass, bending wire, &c. F is a pair of pliers or tweezers pivoted at c, and closing into the slot at for the use towhich these instruments are appli-' cable.
The tool may be of cast or wrought metal,
or hard wood, and, in the former case, when finished, may'betreated to a bath of moltennietal, or be silver or nickel plated in the ordinary way, to produce a bright finished appearance and prevent rust.
This tool will be found handy and convenient to carry in the pocket, as it embraces several of the tools for which use is com monly had.
