IMPROVEMENT IN SELF-REGULATING GASFBURNSERS.,

To all whom 'it may concern Beit known that I, DUNCAN D. M cMrLLAN, of La Crosse, in the county of La Crosse and State of Wisconsin, have invented a new and Improved Self-Regulating Gas -Burnen 'of `lwhich the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure l represents a vertical central section of my improved self-regulating gas-burner; and Fig. 2, a top View of the same with upper tip part detached, to show liexible diaphragm and gaschannel.

My invention relates to an improved selfregulating gas-burner, by which uniformity of iiow, exemption from leakage, and economy inthe consumption of gas are combined with a simple, cheap, and durable construction. rlhe invention consists oi' a gas-burner with flexible diaphragm .and valve depending therefrom secured in position intermcdiately between the tip 'and base section of the burner, the lower chamber of the same being connected by suitable perforatons with an annular channel concentric to the diaphragm, which channel conducts the gas to the delivery-tube in any position of the tip section by means of two or more channels, the ow being regu-` lated in the customary manner by the pressnre of the gas on the diaphragm and the corresponding opening and closing otl the valve.
In the drawing, A.l represents the lower or base section. and B the upper or tip section, of my improved self-regulating gas-burner. The base-section A forms a cylindrical chamber, into which the lower conical part of the tip section is hermetically screwed. Aiiexible diaphragm, C, of leather or other suitable material, is interposed between the sections of the burner and secured in position by the same. It supports centrally the stem otl a valve, D, which opens or closes in the usual well-known manner from below the entranceaperture of the gas according to the pressure of the gas on the diaphragm. The diameter nected by two or more channels, b, in the conical part otl the same, withA its deliverytube feeding the gas to thetip at any position of the upper section without necessitating an y special adjustment of the same to the gas-conveying channel-s, as the comm unication is established uniformly and reliably as soon as the upper section is attached to the lower, which is a main point of my invention.
