IMPROVEMENT IN PHOTOGRAPH-BURNISHERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 159,035, dated January 26,1875; application filed October 2, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPI-I CHRISTIAN MOESTUE, of Burlington, in the county of Racine and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain Improvements in Machines for Burnishing Photographs and other surfaces, of which the following is a specification:
My invention relates to photograph-burnishers, and consists of a burnisher attached to a vertical pressure-bar by a hinge-joint.
By elevating or depressing a lever attached to the burnisher the operator can regulate the pressure at will. i
In the accompanying drawing, A represents a work-bench; B, the block, upon which is placed the photograph e to be burnished; B B, the frame, from which the pressure-bar may be suspended; D, the metal smoothingiron or burnisher, which is attached to the pressure-bar by means of the rod E, passing through the lugs H, thus forming a hingejoint. To the back of the burnisher is firmly secured the lever F. G is a vertical wooden bar, suspended by a hii'ige from the springboard K, which is secured to the cross-piece B.
The frame B B may be dispensed with, and the spring K be attached to the ceiling of. the room, or by fastening the hinge directly to the ceiling, and putting pieces of rubber under the block B.
In operating my invention the burnisher is passed back and forth over the card, the pressure being at the same time regulated by elevating or depressing the lever F.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The burnishing-block D, in combination with the lever F, hinge-joint E H, and pressure-bar G, substantially as and for the purpose described.
