IMPROVEMENT IN MACHINES FOR SPLITTING WOOD,
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 128,830, dated July 9, 1872 antedated June 28, 1872.
SPEOIFIOLTION.
I, FRANZ WAGNER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Machine for Splitting -Wood; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of the apparatus, showing the mode of using it. Fig. 2 is a side view of the knife. Fig. 3 is a top View Fig. 4 is a side View of the support. Fig. 5 is a top View of thesame.
The object of my invention is to split kindling-wood in a noiseless and easy manner, which is effected by hooking a knife-shaped lever in a perforated support, placing the object under the edge of the knife, and pressing the lever'downwa'rd.
A, Figs. 2 and 3, represents a knife-shaped lever with its hook B and knife 0. D, Figs. 4 and 5, represents the support with a number of holes, E E, in which hook B is able to enter, and with projecting pieces F F F to be fastened by screws to any permanent place or frame to withstand the pressure.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The lever A with its knife-blade (J and hooked end B combined with the support 1), constructed substantially as and for the purpose described.
