IMPROVEMENT IN PNEUMATIC DENTAL PLUGGERS.

Improvement in Pneumatic Dental Pluggers and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof,

reference being had to the annexed drawings,

y making part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective View, Fig. 2 a longitudinal section.

Like letters refer to like parts in both drawings.

The nature of my invention consists in the novel style of the hollow instrument handle and shank, and in the novel manner of imparting to them directly the force of the piston or hammer, thus obviating the necessity of employing a point-holder in connection with the shank, and also thus securing the full effect of the blows from the hammer on the point in both or either direction forward or back.

The object of the invention is kto secure the effect of the blows from the hammer on the point without the intervention of the sliding piece or point holder.

To enable others skilled in the art to understand and' construct my invention, I will proceed to describe it.

c a a represent the hollow cylinder and the shank of a pneumatic dental plugger; b, a chambered and screw-cut recess in the end of the shank for receiving interchangeable plugging instruments or points, which are constructed so as to screw int-o the same, and adapted some to forwardand some to back action; g, hammer or piston faced so as to strike either Way; h, a screw-cut head closing end of cylinder a a a, after the introduction oi' the hammer g; k k, hollow nipples through which air is admitted into, and permitted to escape from, cylinder a a a. As the piston or hammer (actuated by compressed air) is driven either way, forward or back, it comes in, contact with the closed end oi' the hollow handle, and imparts its impetus to it, and to the mass of which it and its shank is composed, and so to the attached point.
