This invention relates to a bag and herness therefor, and has particular reference to the class of bags, knapsacks, haversacks, etc., which are specially adapted for use by school children and girl and boy scouts.
The principal object of the present invention is an article of the character men-- tioned which, when applied, will keep the shoulders back and the head erect, thereby expanding the lungs and causing deeper and fuller breathing, and which will at the same time permit the boy or girl to have the usual freedom of movement of the arms and body.
Another object of the invention is to combine with a bag or receptacle a novel form of harness which distributes the weight of the bag when filled evenly on both shoulders, and which holds the bag vertically disposed and the girl orboy in an erect position or posture when not otherwise engaged.
Another object of the invention is to pro vide a harness for a bag or receptacle which will be adjustable so that the bag may be properly located.
The foregoing and other objects of the invention will appear from the description of the embodiment of the article which shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the bag and harness therefor, with parts of the harness disconnected, looking at the same from the rear; 7
Figure 2 is a view similar to that shown in Fig. 1, looking toward the front of the bag and harness; and s Figure 3 is a perspective view of the bag with the detachable parts of the harness removed.
Referring now more particularly to the several views of the drawing, it will be apparent that the present invention in general consists of a bag or receptacle 10 and a harness 11. The bag 10 in the present instance consists of a hollow body or com partlnent 12 having a rear wall 13, front wall 14, collapsible side walls 15 and a bottom 16. The front Wall 14 is extended to provide a closing flap 17 which closes down over the rear wall 13. The compartment 12 is intended to receive different articles, such asbooks, tablets, etc.; and the rear wall 13 is provided with a series of pockets 18 for the reception of pencils, etc. The harness 11, in the present instance, includes BAG AND HARNESS THEREFOR.
