BAG RACK.
Application filed July 11, 1925.
This invention relates to improvements in bag racks and contemplates the provision of an elongated frame having apertured plates arranged upon the corners thereof for receiving guy or supporting means therein for supporting the said frame an appre ciable distance from the floor of a mer cantile store and which frame has extendin thercthrough a plurality of pointed pins having their outer ends offset and received within looped portions arranged upon the outer sides of the frame in order that these pointed pins may be run through the upper open ends of the bags of various sizes to be supported upon these pins and within the frame whereby the said bags will be held in an elevated position and hence not taking up the usual floor space as is now the custom but will hang immediately overhead and above a store counterwhere they may be readily and easily pulled from the rack with little difficulty.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective of my invention.
Figure 2 is a transverse section showing the relative associations and mountings of the ins.
1 :gure 3 is a detail perspective of one of the pins per se.
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference characters 10 and 11 indicate side and end rails which when so associated, as clearly illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawing, form an elongated frame including apertured plates 12 arranged upon the corners of the side rails 10 and within which are looped the lower ends of supporting or guy wires 13 which may be of an appropriate length in order that the said frame thus defined may be supported immediately above a store counter and in convenient reach of the merchant. The frame thus defined is held together by companion bolts 13 extending through the Serial No. 42,999.
side rails 10 and plate 12 and the entire lengths of the end rails 11.
The side rails 10 include openings 1-1 and cutout portions 15 upon the inner sides and upper edges respectively, and within which are positioned pins 16 having pointed end portions 17 extending within and through the openings 1 1 while the opposite ends of the pins 16 terminate in substantially offset end portions 18 and extend downwardly and across the outer side of the respective side rail when inserted within the cutout portions 15 provided in the upper edge thereof. Staples 19 are arranged upon the outer sides of the rails bearing the cutout portions and in direct alignment therewith in order that the offset portions 18 of the pins 16 may be received therein for holding the said pins 16 against accidental displace ment upon the rack thus defined.
In the mode of operation of the present invention it is clearly apparent and manifest from the foreging description andaccompanying drawing that owing to the respective lengths of the side rails and the multiplicity of the openings 14: and cutout portion 15 upon the inner sides and upper edges respectively, that a varying number of different sized bags may be supported upon this rack and when the said pins 16 have their inner pointed end portions 17 inserted within the upper open end portions of a plurality of bags, as clearly illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawing, and inserted within the openings 1% in one of the end rails 10 while their opposite ends extend downwardly within the cutout portions 15 in the opposite side rail and have their offset portions 18 extending downwardly and within the staples 19.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention what is claimed is A rack of the character described comprising an elongated frame, the side bars forming the frame having a plurality of spaced parallel openings arranged within their sides and cutout portions upon their upper edges respectively, substantially offset pins having their inner end portions aositioned .Within the openings and cutout portions, and staples arranged upon the outer side of one of the side rails below the cutout portions for receiving the downwardly extending offset end portions of the pins for holding the same against accidental displacement within the openings and cutout portions.
In testimony whereof I my signature.
JOEL H. WALLACE.
