OEVEDRA B. SHELDON, OF NEW YORK, N, Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN TAGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 158,443, dated January 5, 1875; application tiled December 5, 1874. t
To all whom it may concern:
, Be it known that I, OEVEDRA B. SHELDON,
of the city, county, and State of New York,
have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tags; and I do hereby declare that the fol lowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specificatiou.
This invention relates to certain improvements in tags; and it consists in attaching the card to the twine by folding the corners of the card over the ends of the twine, at an obtuse angle to the parallel sides of the same, and fastening the said corners, with the inclosed ends of twine, with glue or other suitable adhesive matter.
The figure is a side elevation, illustrating the invention, in which- A represents the card, having its corners B B turned down over the ends of the twine, preferably at an angle of about forty-five degrees to the sides of the card, which causes the folded edge to form,'with the parallel sides G O of the loop, an angle of about one hundred and thirty-five degrees. Directly under the fold of the corners is contained the secured ends of the twine, which are held tightly in place, when the said corners are fastened to the card A, by means of glue.
By means of this arrangement the tag is constructed with a ready-made loop, as shown, or with two free ends; and the line of draft of the parallel sides of the twine is at an obtuse the intermediate position both the above objections are modified, and the greatest possible advantage secured.
What I claim as new is- As a new article of manufacture, the tag constructed, as described, by fastening the ends of the twine under the folded corners of the card at an obtuse angle to the parallel sides of the twine.
GEVEDRA B. SHELDON.
