' CURTAIN FIXTURE.

This invention 7 relates to a new and improved curtain fixture.

It is the object thereof, among other things, to provide a fixture that will not only adapted also, if desired,to support a plurality of sets of curtains, the mechanism of which will be simple in its design, economical to construct, can be positioned on the window frame without the use of screws, nails, or similar. fastening devices, and adjusted for any width of shade or curtain.

Other features of the invention' will be apparentfrom the following specification and accompanying drawings, wherein a pre ferred embodiment of the invention is described and illustrated.

My invention consists in a curtain fixture having certain details of construction and. combinations of parts, as will be hereinafter described and more particularly pointed out in the claims.

Figure 1 is an elevation of a portion of a window frame with my improved device attached thereto with which is associated a windowshade and two curtain rods;

In the embodiment of this invention, the mechanism for both sides of the window frame are the same, and as shown in Figure 3, comprise a base member 10 having a head portion 11 at I cured in any one end with prongs 12 thereon and a hook 13 near the opposite end, to which is connected one end of a coil spring 14, the opposite end being connected witha similar-hook on the base member at the opposite side of the window frame.

Preferably central portion of the base member is a guard plate 15, through which is a slot 16 and. between which and the body of the base member 10 is an open space 1?. Movably connected with the base member is a shade arm 18 for supporting the window shade 19. The lower portion of these arms is of conventional shape. In a set there is one having a rectangular opening 20 therethrough and the other a circular hole, as is usual. a

The upper portion of each of these arms is provided with a foot plate 21 that is within the open space 17 and'a flange. 22 atone edge. The open space between the flange 22 and the portion 23 of the arm at theopposite end of the plate 21.is substantially thesame as the width of the plate 15, whereby the lntermeshing engagement of these parts provides a rigid support for the shade arm.

Projecting through an opening in the plate 21 and slot 16 is a screw 24 having a thumb nut 25thereon. The arm 18 isthus slidably mounted upon the base member 10 and setively thereto. 7 I

The curtain plate26 has a leg portion 27 which is substantially the same width as the space betweenthe inner face of the end wall 28 of the plate 15 and the lugs 29 integral with the base member, and a head portion 30 which is provided with one or more openings 31 therethrough. The curtain rods 33 shown herein are of the conventional extension type, made usual- 1y of hollow tubing. In each end of each of these rods is a support plug 34, which has two spring arms 35 and a plate portion 36, which extends both below and above the spring arms 35, the upper end terminating in a head 37 connected by a neck portion 38. The width of the neck portion and that of the plate 36 adjacent thereto are substantially the same as that of the parallel sided portions of the opening 31, and the head portion 37 is substantially the same shape as that of theupper portion ofthe same opening so that it may be readily passed therethrough for the purpose of assembly; hen so assembled the neck portion 38 rests upon the lower edge of the opening 31, and the opposite sides of the head 37 are upon opposite sides of the opening 31, and thereby locked against disengagement therefrom. Thus a curtain rod of any length may be readily attached or detached and one or more may be utilized, as desired, the only limitation being the number of openings in the curtain plate 26. As these curtain plates are easily positioned, it is quite a simple matter to substitute new ones to meetany requirement.

In Figure 9 there is shown a modified form of curtain plate, wherein the openings 39 therethrough are substantially rectangular in shape, and connected with the-adjacent edge of the plate by a slot 40. The plug 34 is assembled with this form of plate by sliding the neck portion 38 through the slot 40. I

Within the scope of the appended claims, minor changes and alterations may be made, aside from those herein suggested, and I would therefore have it understood that I do not limit myself to the exact construction herewith shown and described, but claim all that falls fairly within the invention. v

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In a curtain fixture; a body member having a base portion, a head portion at one end, a guard plate integral with the base portion and separated therefrom between its ends by an open space; a curtain plate separably connected with the body member, having an opening therein; and a support plug projecting through the opening and thereby having a separable engagement with the curtain plate.

2. In a curtainwfixture; a body member having a base portion with lugs formed thereon; a head portion atone end; a guard plate integral with-the base portion and separated therefrom between its ends by an open space;a curtain plate having a leg portion which when the plate is assembled open space between said lugs and an end wall of the guard plate; and a support plug projecting through the opening and thereby having a separ ble engagement with the curtain plate.

In a curtain fixture; a body member having a base portion with lugs formed thereon; a head portion at one end; a guard plate integral with the base portion and separated therefrom between its ends by an open space; a substantially L-shaped curtain plate. connected with the body member, one 7 of the arms of which projects through said end wall of the guard plate, said curtain plate having an opening therethrough; and a support plug, one portion of which projects through the opening in the plate and thereby provides a separable engagement therewith.

In a curtain fixture; a body member having a base portion with lugs formed thereon; a head portion at one end; a guard plate integral with the base portion and separated therefrom between its ends by an open space; a substantially L-shaped curtain plate connected with the body member, one of the arms of which projects through the said open space and between said lugs and an end wall of the guard plate, said curtain plate having an'opening through the other arm; and a support plug, one portion of which projects through the opening in the plate and thereby provides a separable engagement therewit 5.
