POLISH-BOD SUPPORT.
Application filed-October .6, 1925. Serial No. 60,926.
To all who mat may concern:
Be it known that I, LEONARD Loor, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tulsa, in the county of Tulsa and State of Oklahoma, have invented a new and useful Polish-Rod Support, of which the following is a specification. 1
The present invention relates to a connectconnecting a polish rod to a pumpbeam,
novel means being provided for adjusting the polish rod with respect to the valve members that operate below the polish red.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which will permit of an adjustment of the polish rod, eliminating the necessity of employing beam hangers which often allow the polish rod to drop, necessitating the loss of time to recover the same.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of means whereby an adjustment may be readily and easily made, eliminating any possibility of the polish rod With the foregoing and other objects in view which will app-ear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawings: Figure 1 is an elevatlonal view 1llustrat mg a connecting member constructed in accordance with the invention and illustrat-- ing one end of a pump beam.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the adjusting member.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on line 4-4 of Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken on line 55 of Figure 3.
Figure 6 is a sectional view taken on line 66 of Figure 3.
Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 5 indicates a pump beam which is of the usual construction and is provided with hearing members 6 formed mg member especially designed for use in with cut out portions to accommodate the cross arm 'l" forming a part of the connectmg device.
The cross arm 7 is formed at the upper the head 11 of the reduced portion 8. This connecting member includes an elongated body portion having its front and rear wallsout away defining guide members 12 between which the 'adjusting member to be hereinafter more fully described, moves.
Positioned at a point substantially intermediate the ends of the body portion are the bearing blocks 13 which are held together by means of bolts 14, the bearing blocks 13 being secured in position on the body portion in any suitable and well known manner. The 'reterence character 15 indicates a feed sleeve which is provided with a peripheral groove defining spaced flanges 16 that operate on opposite sides of the bearing blocks 13 to permit of rotary movement of the sleeve 15 but insure against movement of the feed sleeve 15 longitudinally of the body portion.
The lower portion of the feed sleeve 15 is threaded to receive the upper threaded end of the tubular member 17, while the lower end of the tubular member 17 is threaded in the head 18 of the sleeve 19 which head rests on the base 20 of. the elongated body portion to insure against the elements supported by the head 18 moving longitudinally of the body portion. At the lower end of the sleeve 19 are flattened portions 21 constructed to receive a suitable wrench whereby the rotary movement will be imparted to the sleeve 19, tubular member 17 and feed sleeve 15.
Movable between the guide members 12 is a supporting screw 22 that moves through the feed sleeve 15 as clearly shown by Figure 3 of the drawings. In order that the screw 22 will be held against rotary movement, a guide block 23 is provided which is of a width to operate between the guide members 12, the guide block 23 being however secured to the upper end of the screw 22.
Formed in the lower end of the feed screw 22 is a threaded socket 24L that accommodates the threaded extremity 25 ot the polish rod 26 so that the polish rod may be connected to the screw 22 to move vertically therewith. 1
From the foregoing it will be obvious that should it be desired to adjust the polish rod 26, it is only necessary to place a wrenchon the flattened portion of the sleeve 19, rotat ing the tubular member 17 and feed sleeve 15, with the result that the feed screw 22 is moved longitudinally of the elongated body portion, thereby eliminating the ne cessity of removing the polish rod from its connecting member in order to make the adjustment.
I claim:
1. In a device of the character described, a body portion, a feed sleeve mounted within the body portion and adapted to rotate wit-h respect thereto, a sleeve having a head mounted for rotary movement at the base of the body portion, a tubular member connecting the sleeves, a screw movable through the feed sleeve, means for connecting the polish rod to the screw, and said screw adapted to operate to move the polish rod longitudinally of the body portion.
2. Ina device of the character described, a body portion comprising spaced guided members, bearing blocks supported between the guide members and held against movement, a separable base on the guide members, said separable base embodying asuphaving a threaded portion adapted to be adjusted through the bearing blocks, and means for raising and lowering the body portion.
In testimony that I- claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature.
LEONARD LOOP.
