ALBERT RAHN AND JOSEPH WEBER, OF NEUSTADT, CANADA.
TOP CONNECTION BETWEEN A HAME STRAP AND HAME.
Application filed March 3, 1925. Serial No. 12,917.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ALBERT RAHN and JosErH WEBER, both subjects of the King of Great Britain, and residents of the V11- lage of Neustadt, '1 the county of Grey, 1n the Province of ntario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvement-s is Top Connections Between a Hame Strap and Hame, of which the following is the specification.
Our invention relates to improvements in top hame, and the object of the invention is to devise a simple readily detachable connection between the top hame strap and the hame, which will be secure and readily adjusted, and it consists essentially of the arrangement and construction of parts as hereinafter more particularly explained.
F ig. 1 is a perspective view .of a hame member, a portion of the top hame strap and our connection between the top hame strap and hame member.
Flg. 2 is an enlarged plan sectional detail through the hame member and hame strap, and our connecting means.
Fig. 5 is a sectional plan view through Fig. 4;. p
In the drawings like characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
1 indicates a hame member provided with a reenforcing metallic band 1", in which is formed in proximity to its upward end a series of-transverse recesses 1 for a'purpose which will hereinafter appear.
2 is a portion of a top hame strap which is detachably connected to the hame member 1.
We now will describe such connecting means.
3 is a loop portion extending aroundthe hame, the transverse portion 3 of such loop member being adapted to fit into any one of the transverse recesses 1.
4 is a transverse loop through which the connection between a hame strap and top hame strap 2 passes as clearly indicated in Figure 2.
5 and 6 are cylindrical portions connecting each side portion of the loop 3 with the ends of the transverse loop 4. The loop 3, cylindrical portions 5 and 6 and transverse loop 4, form-an integral unit. The inner wall of each cylindrical portion 5 and 6 is provided with a longitudinal slot 7.
8 is a compression spring fitting within each cylindrical portion 5 and 6.
9 is atransverse plate having reduced por tions 10 extending through the slots 7, so as to bear against the ends of the compression springs 8 within the tubular portions 5 and 6. a y a In order to detach the upper hame strap from the hame member 1, all that it is necessary to do is to grasp the hame strap and force it and its connection towards the hame member held stationary by the other hand of the operator, thereby forcing the plate 9 against the hame member so as to compress the springs 8 and by the same movement carrying the loop member 3 in the direction of arrow, see Fig. 2, to carry the transverse portion 3 thereof out of the transverse groove 1. The connection may then be removed upward over the upper end of thehame. The same operation is performed in order to move the transverse portion 3 of the loop 3 into one or the otherof the transverse grooves 1.
In Figs. 4 and 5, we have shown an alternative form. In this form 27 is a supplemental plate secured to the reenforcing strip of the hame by screws 28, suchplate being provided with a perforation 29.
30 isa loop extending around the hame and provided with a projection 31 fitting into the perforation 29. A series of perforations may be provided if desired.
In this form 32 is the hame strap which passes through the inner end of the loop and bears against the hame member, so as to retain the projection 31 within the perforation 29.
From this description it will be seen that we have devised a very simple form of connection between the top strap of the hame and the hame member, Which may be easily removed Whenever desired, or adjusted in position.
Vhat We claim as our invention is:
In a hame, the combination with a hame member and top strap of the hame, of a looped member extending around the hame member and to the inner end of Which the top strap is connected, tubular portions formed integral With the loop sides and 10 having longitudinal slotted inner Walls, compression springs located in such tubular portions, and a transverse plate bearing against the inner edge of the hame and extending through the slots to bear upon the 15 ends of the compression springs.
ALBERT RAHN.
JOSEPH WEBER.
