IMPROVEMENT IN LANTERNS.
Specification forming'part of Letters Patent No. 15,782, dated September 23,1856.
T0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SINCLAIR SHANNON, of Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Hand-Lanterns,which improvements are described and illustrated in the following specification and accompanying drawings With'sufcient clearness to enable others of competent skill to make and use my invention'.
The iirst of these improvements consists of a new and improved mode of attaching the lamp tothe lantern, by which all danger of the lamp being accidentally disengaged and consequently dropped and perhaps 10st is obviated, anda good lserviceable and reliable article can be furnished at a less cost than by any other method of construction t tern open, or, in other Words, the lamp is shown as being removed from the body 0I' the lantern, as would be necessary for the purpose of lighting, trimming, and cleaning it.
