Description

Patented Mar. ,23, lggfi.

GAS STOVE.
Application filed August 27, 1925. Serial No. 52,787.
To all 'Lo/wm t may concern.'
Be it known that I, Anomniv E. Moonns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dallas, in the county of Dallas and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Gas Stoves, of which the following is a specication.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in heater stoves and it pertains more particularly to the novel arrangement and structure'of the parts thereof.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a heater stove for gas burning, the stove having a pilot for ignitingthe gas in the burner when the gas cock is turned on to admit gas, thus obviating the use of matches or separate ignition each time the gas is ignited.
Another object is to provide a gas stove of unique and novel form and one which reduces the possibility of igniting ones clothing to a minimum. The stove is well made, strong and durable, neat and attrae# tive and may be manufactured at a small cost.
lith the above and further objects in view, which will be explained hereafter, the invention will be more clearly understood by a perusal of the following description in connection with the accompanying drawings, and wherein:
Figur-e 1 is a perspective view of a gas stove embodying the invention.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view.
Figure 3 is a cross-sectional view along line 3-3 of Figure 1, and
Figure t is a detailed view of the front end of the burner and showing the position of the pilot.
In carrying` out the invention there is provided a bottom 1v upon which is supported a gas burner 2. The bottom 1 has supporting legs 8 which are secured to the downwardly turned flange 1 of the bottom or may be attached directly to the bottom by any suitable means. The burner has a neck 5, an air regulating valve 6 and a gas cock 7 connected into the gas feed pipe 8. The burner is of one continuous piece somewhat oval in outline and is supported on the outer `margin of the bottom 1, the neck extending below the bottom and di rected outwardly as shown.
The pilot 9 is disposed just above the burner 2 in close proximity to the gas outlets vof copper or brass of high polish or of any suitable metal. rhese strips are fastened to each other by brads or rivets as preferred and vertical strips 14 are attached thereto. The bottom strip 15 is broader than the strips 13 and le to provide greater strengthening means and is attached to the flange l of the bottom 1, f'
the wire cloth or gauze being interposed between the flange and strip 15 on both sides. The stove has an end covering forming a curved closure and comprising strips 13-a and 15a fastened together. A door is provided of the same shape as the end closure, the door being hinged at 16 to a top center strip 17 connecting the two side coverings of the stove. This strip has spaced perforations 18 forgas fumes and heat outlet. This strip v is of suflicient breadth to sup-port a vessel containing water or the like.
Seated upon the support or bottom 1 is a dome 19 of clay, asbestos or other suitable heat deflecting material, hollow inside and afHXed to the bottom of or securely resting thereupon.
From the foregoing it will be apparent that whenthe pilot is lighted and burning it will only be necessary to open the gas cock to provide instant heat. The pilot consumes very little gas in its `constant burning. The gas flame is thus confined between the clay form or dome and the wire gauze 12 and cannot ignite a persons clothing. singlass may be substituted for the gauze'if preferred, and it should be understood also that other modicationsmay be made in the arrangement and construction of the stove in keeping with the following claim.
What is claimed is:
A gas heater stove comprising a base, legs attached thereto, a gas burner pipe supported upon the base and having means for connecting said burner to a gas feed pipe; a pilot with pipe connection to said feed pipe and providing a constant lighting means for said burner with means for adjusting the pilot; said pilot disposed adjacent a control valve; a heat deflecting dome of snit-able maieal seated upon the bese; e reculated covelng for the stove, a frame fol1 the covering and a, door in one end of the Covering; the sides of said covering substantially followingV the line of an web and connected at the top by a, ridge or Strip with spaced apertures; said door1 Lei/7,6m
hinged io the covering, the door and opposite end. of the stove having a founded bottom and arched formation. 10
In testimony whereof I :Linx my signature.
