I CORPORATION OF OHIO. 1
TRUSS.
Application legl'February 2, 1925. Serial No. 6,335.
To @ZZ whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, Isaac M. a citizen of the United States, and resident of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new` and useful Improvements in Trusses, of which the following is a full, clear, and eX- act description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
My invention relates to trusses and has particular reference to trusses of the so called hood type.
The principal object of the present invention is to provide means for strengthening the construction ofa hood truss.
It has been found by experience that the points where the hood or support for the front or remedial'padsof a hood truss are so weakened ordinarily by the attachment of said support to the lateral springs, that the truss soon loosens and breaks at these points. It is to overcome this diiiculty that my invention is directed.
In the drawings:
Figure `1 is an elevation of a portion of the front part of a truss, illustrating the present invention.
Figure 2 is an edge view of same.
Figure 3 is a longitudinal section ofthe invention. y
The numerall indicates one of the lateral springs 'of a hood truss, said spring being adapted to litto the Vbody of the wearer in the usual manner and to carry the hood or front pad supports 2. The ends of the support 2 and spring 1 are so constructed as to overlap and are secured together by means of a sleeve or clip 3, the ends of the support hood 2, respectively, so as to engage the ends of the sleeve 3. Vhen the parts are assembled, asy shown in the drawings, and the screws 4 and 5 inserted and tightened, it will be observed that the parts are held in rigid relation to each other.
By reason of the construction above described, it will be seen that no perforations tion described I have provided an extremely rigid and durable means for assemblying the springs and hood of'a truss of the character referred to.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Lette-rs Patent is:
l.V In a truss, in combination with a springand a supporting member, the ends of said spring and member being adapted to overlap, a sleeve arranged lto encircle said ends, and studs adapted to be inserted in the ends of the spring and member beyond opposite ends of the sleeve for securing the parts together. Y
2. In a truss, in combination with a spring and a supporting member, the ends of said spring and member being adapted to overlap, a sleeve arranged to encircle said ends, and screws adapted to be inserted in the ends of the spring and member beyond opposite ends of the sleeve for securing the parts together.
ISAAC M. PEASE.
