YPaul, in the county of Ramsey and itate of li/,iinnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ash-- lleceiving Attachments for Cigars and Analogous Smokes; and l do declare the following; to be a full, clear, and exact description ofi/the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the `art to which it appertains to make and use the saine. Mv invention relates to improvements 1n devices which are applicable to the ends of cigars or other smokes, for the purpose `of receiving the ashes as the latter are formed, preventing them from falling onto thel smokers clothing, the floor, etc. v

'lhe principal object of the invention is to provide a device ofthe character set forth which, While being extremely simple and inexpensive, desirable.

With the foregoing in view, the invention `resides in the novel subject matter hereinafter described and claimed, the description being supplmented by the accompanying drawing. Y Y

In the form of the invention disclosed in Figs. 1 to 5, the device includes a frame F composed of spaced cigar-encircling bands l h l Fig. 6, an ash receiver or thimble is shown,

1 and 2 connected by longitudinal bars 3 which are spaced apart circumferentially. said bars projecting beyond the band 2 and having their projecting ends l curved inwardly into overlapping relation,to provide a closed end for the frame, the opposite end of this frame being open.

A cylindrical screen 5 is disposed in the frame F andis formed with a'closed end 6 which contacts With the closed end 'of said frame. A knob 7 contacts with the outer side of this closed frame end, and in the present showing, small nails 8 pass through the screen end 6, through a Washer 9 contacting with said screen end and are driven `vvill be eii'icientand very into thevkncb 7 so as to securel these, parts together.k These nails also preferably pass through the inwardly curved bar ends 4.

In the preferred manner of constructing the device shown in Figs. 1 to 4, the frame F is formed of a single sheet metal blank, (preferably l. aluminum). This blank is shown in Fig. '5, and the portions 1, 2, 8 of this figure are the parts of the blank which form the parts 1, 2, 3 and 4l, When said `blank is bent into the proper shape.V Flanges 12 are formed on the opposite ends Of the blank, said vflanges being bent and interhooked to secure the blank in frame-forming position, as Will be clear from Fig. 3 and Fig. 5.

Any form o' the invention is simple and inexpensive, yet is a great asset to the cigar smoker, and it will be understood that the scope of my invention is o'r' course such as to protect thel latter made 4in any desired size, Whether used upon cigars, cigarettes or other analogous smokes.

l; rin ash receiving attachment for a cigar or analogous smoke, Vcomprising a'oraminous thimble having a central opening in its nous thimble and an elastic band secured to' said thimble and extending around the open end thereof, said band having a portion profes-ting beyond said open end of the thimble and said projecting portion being self-contracting to a diameter smaller than the diameter of the thimble to yieldably engage a cigar. An ash receiving attachment for a cigar or analogous smoke, comprising a frame consisting of spaced cigar-encircling ringsV connected by circumferentially spaced parallel bars, said bars proecting beyond one of said rings and having t reir ends curved inwardly l into overlapping relation to form a closed end for the frame, a cylindrical screen Within the frame having a closed end contacting with the closed end of the frame, a knob contacting with the-outer side of said closed end of the frame, and means securing the closed ends ofthe screen and frame to said knob. -Y n i 4. An ash receiving attachment 'for a cigar or analogous smoke, comprising a frame consisting of spaced cigar-encircling rings connected by circumferentially spaced parallel bars, said bars projecting beyond one of said rings and having theirends curved inwardly into Overlapping relation to 'form a closed end for the frame, a cylindrical screen Within the frame having a closed end contacting with the closed end of the frame, a knob contacting with theouter side of said closed end or' the frame, a Wire stem disposed longitudinally in the screen to penetrate the cigar, one end of said stem passing through said inwardly curved bar endsand into the knob, and means securing said bar ends and the closed end of the screen to said knob.
