' A.HAUSER' I ULPING MACHINE FOR TREATING PLANTS YIELDING FIBROUS- MATTER Filed June 27. 1924 Patented Mar. 9, 1926.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANDRE HAUSER, OF MEXICO, MEXICO.
QPULIPING MACHINE FOR TREATING PLANTS YIELDING FIBRO' US MATTER.
Application filed June 27, 1924. Serial No. 722,868.
fibrous matter, such as for instance the leaves of the agave or Mexican aloe.
In the accompanying drawing Fig. l is a side elevation of the machine and Figs. 2 and 3 are details on an enlarged scale.
In the machinerepresented the leaves K are spread on an apron K and are caught between a feed roller A and a press roller A which is slidably and resiliently mounted in slides A These rollers deliver the leaves over a feed bar E (Fig. 2) covered with a leather strip E to a rotatably mounted drum D which is covered on its periphery with scraping blades D The blades striking the leaves will scra e off the pulp from the fibres and will pro ect it in a tangential direction F indicated by the arrow, while the fibrous matter left will be caught by a movable grating M which is mounted on the three rollers C, C C (Fig. 3). This grating comprises two endless chains connected to cross bars M arranged at equal distances from each other. The grating carries the fibres between the fluted rollers C C where they are seized before they have left the grip of rollers A A and are after a slight compression delivered on the floor. Thus this grating will convey the fibres in a different direction from that imparted to the pulp and thus the disadvantage will be avoided of having the pulp sticking to the fibres as would happen if pulp and fibres were ejected through the same outlet. The fibres being still moist and charged with fragments while passing between the rollers 0 C would quickly choke up the flutings of said rollers to an intolerable eXtent, but this obviated by the cross bars M which entering into the recesses of the fluted rollers will clear the fiutings when leaving the same.
The parts described in the above are all mounted on a framing S having two hinged feet 0 and a Wheel Q, at its fore end and two steady feet 0 at its rear end, where also are provided two hand bars P so as to permit of transporting the whole machine like a wheel barrow.
Having reached the work place the machine is set down by lowering the feet 0 which will lift up the fore part of the machine and wheel Q from the floor. The machine is now ready to be started. To this end a pedal R fulcrumed on the axle of wheel Q, is hinged to a connecting rod T which is hinged eccentrically to a disk at the end of the shaft of the drum. On
this shaft is also keyed a small pulley D If a belt, not shown is put on said pulley and the wheel Q and if the pedal is worked the machine will be set running and wheel Q; will act as a fly wheel for regulating the speed.
Having now fully described and ascertained the nature of my invention and the manner in which the same is to be performed what I claim as new and want to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a pulping machine for separating the pulp from the fibrous matter of plants and in combination, a framing supporting a feed device, a scraping device, and a device for ejecting the separated pulp and fibres each in a different direction, two hinged feet and a wheel provided at the fore end of said framing and two steady feet and two hand bars at the rear end of said framing, all substantially as shown and described and for the purpose set forth.
2. In a pulping machine for separating the pulp from the fibrous matter of plants and in combination a feed bar, afeed device adapted to convey the plants on to said bar, adrum provided with scraping blades arranged on its periphery, said drum placed in front of said feed bar, a movable grating located underneath said feed device and having cross bars attached to two endless chains and a pair of fluted rollers located to move said grating in a radially outward direction from the drum, all substantially as shown and described and, for the purpose set forth. I
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature.
ANDRE HAUSER.
