PORTABLE FENCE.

Be it known that I, BnAUREeUAno Fa)- .wnnns, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brunswick, in the county of Glynn and State of Georgia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Fences, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in portable fences, and the primary object thereof, is to substantially improve upon the portable fences, with which I am now familiar, my invention being characterized by its Simplicity of construction, and the easy and expeditious manner in which the same may be set up, the same comprising at the same time the desired features of efiiciency and durability, and that may be manufactured and marketed at small cost.

The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawings, the invention residing in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as claimed.

In the drawings forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in' the several views, and wherein Figure 1-is an elevation of my improved fence.

Figure 2is a top plan view of one of the corners thereof.

Among other elements, my novel portable fence comprises substantially rectangular panels 5, the same preferably being made up of the usual fence wire, and embodying spaced longitudinal and vertical wire strands. The ends of these panels are adapted to be detachably secured between the fence posts designated generally 6, of a con struction hereinafter more fully described. Each of these posts embodies a post element 7 and a base element 8 of concrete, or other material desirable. The base elements 8 are of substantially square shape, and are provided with a substantially square-shaped opening 9, for receiving the square shaped extensions 10 of said post elements 7. These base elements 8 carry pendent anchor spikes 11 at the four corners thereof, which are adapted to be driven into the ground as clearly shown in Figure l, for firmly anchoring the base elements 8 to the ground. The post elements 7 are each provided with metallic eyes 12 for receiving the ends of hooks 13, that are loosely secured to similar eyes 114. upon the said base elements 8.

The fence posts comprised in the construction of the sides of. the fence are each provided with spaced crossed wires 15, theopposite ends of which prjoect outwardly of the post as more clearly shown in Figure 41-, and are eyed at 16, these eyed ends carrying hooks 17, that engage over the end vertical wires of the said fence panels 5, for main taining the same in position between the posts. Each of the corner posts are provided upon their two inner sides with spaced rigid hook elements 18 that receive rings 19 car ried by the end panels comprised in the fence. Adjacent the upper end of the outer sides of the corner posts, there is provided eye bolts 20, that receive the upper ends of anchor rods 21, each of these anchor rods including a turn buckle 22. The lower ends of these anchor rods are secured to anchoring posts 23, that are driven into the ground at an inclination to the fence post elements, as clearly shown in Figure 1.

In view of the above description, it will at once be apparent that I have provided a highly improval form of portable fence, and one that will embrace all of the features above described, and even though I have herein shown and described my portable fence as comprised of certain structural elements, it is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made in the same without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:

A portable fence including a plurality of base elements of enlarged :fiat form having vertical openings in the central portions thereby, latches for locking the posts to their respective blocks, said posts having a plurality of hooks carried thereby, and fence sections secured by said hooks between the posts for providing a readily removable fence.
