UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDRIOK P. BLOOM, OF TIFFIN, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN STOVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 157,365, dated December 1, 1874; application filed November 12, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, FREDRICK P. BLooM, of Tiffin. in the county of Seneca and in the State of Ohio, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Stoves; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
My invention relates to that class of stoves in which the base and lower part is made of cast-iron, and the upper part of sheet-iron, a horizontal riin being formed around the upper edge of the cast-iron part; and the 11ature of my invention consists in providing said rim with an upward curve so as to allow ofthe door being raised above the level of the rim, and thereby prevent lire and ashes from falling ont` when the door is opened.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the saine, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which representsa perspective view of my improved stove.
A represents the lower cast-ironpart ot' the stove with riin B extending around its upper edge, and O is the upper or sheet-iron part of the stove.
The ordinary way of making these stoves is to have the rim B extending around over the door on the same level, which brings the door so low, that when opened, tire and ashes are liable to fall out.
To obviate this difiicultyis the object of my invention, and to this end I curve the rim B upward over the door, as shown at D, to any desired height, so as to raise -or elevate the door E any desired distance above the bottom FREDRIOK P. BLOOM. Vitnesses:
A. C. BARBOUR, R. W. SHAWHAN.
