Be it known that I, BERNARD M. SCHWEI- y' 2ER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nashville, in the county of Davidson and 5 State of Tennessee, have invented a new and useful Comb, of which the following is a specification. i

This invention relates to toilet articles and more particularly to dressing combs.

The object of the invention is to provide a comb of this character so constructed that it may be quickly and thoroughly cleaned thereby insuring a comb sanitary at all times. Y

Another object is to provide a comb having the back so constructed that kone member thereof may; beremoved to permit a jet of water to e y at their junctioirwith the 4 back and thus uickly removeall de osits of oil, dirt and t e like which collect etween the top ofthe teeth and the comb back or body.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will. appear as the description proceeds, the invent1on resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it bein understood that changes in the pr'ecise em odiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made within the scope of what is claimed without de arting from the spirit of the invention. n the accompanying drawings Figure 1 'represents a side` elevation with parts broken out of a comb. constructed in accordance with this invention;

The comb 1 embodying) this invention is equipped with a hollow ack 2, the -chamber 3 formed therein bein wedge-shaped in cross section with the wal s thereof tapering inwardly, said chamber extending down into the teeth 4.

A removable wedge-shaped section 5 is designed to be normally mounted in the forced between the teeth' chamber 3 and is preferably of a width `greater than the depth of the chamber with its upper edge projecting abovethe upper edge of the back as 1s shown clearly in Figs. 1 and 3. .The tapered lower edge 6 of section 5 also preferably extends down into the teeth 4 which arerecessed at vtheir upper end as shown at 7, said recesses communicating w1th chamber 3.

The section 5 is referably made slightly longer than the com back 2 and is provided at its ends with inwardly extendin curved fingers 8 which lit down over the en s of the comb 'back and facilitate the removal and insertion of section 5.

Should the back 2 and section4 5 be made i `of metal. the section lwill be held in its seat by friction. Should these parts however be made of celluloid, ivory or similar substance `it will be necessary to rovide auxiliary fas- In-the use of this comb when it is desired to clean it section .-5 is removed and a jet of water is forcibl entered through chamber 3 and flowing own between and against the teeth 4 thoroughly cleanses them o allgrease, dust andthe like which may have collected on'them.

After the comb has been cleaned the section 5 is replaced and operates to reinforce the backof the lcomb bility of its breaking.
