a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in igure Toys, of which the following is a specification. My invention relates to improvements in toys, its object being particularly to provide an improved form of studied animal, such as fowl, fish, etc, the appendages, such as feet, tail, etc, being flexible, and the stuffed animal being provided with a flexible handle.

To this end my invention consists in the oarticular features of construction and coinination hereinafter described and claimed.

Referring to the drawings, 2 indicates the side walls ofthe toy, of suitable material, and shaped to form the particular animal desired. The side walls are joined together along their meeting edges by a line of stitching 3, the stitching cz-ztending inwardly beyond the free edge so as to constitute a rigid llangc around the animal. Suitable filling material is placed between the walls as shown in Fig. 2, to bring about the desired -"contour. Secured between the stitched edges of the side walls and projecting therefrom are the different appendages of the animal, in the form shmvn in the drawings, these being the feet, tail, bill and comb. These appendages are of flexible material. A suitable handle, preferably of flexible cord, is secured between the walls of the seam, and projects upwardly from the top of the animal to allow it to be conveniently carried. These flexible appendages may be directly secured between the seams or may, as illustrated in l igurcs 2 and 3,.bo secured to a central wall 5, preferably of rigid material centrally positioned within the filling as shown in Figure 2.

The stiffness of the seam 3 assists in bringing out a swinging movement of the appendages while the toy is being handled, and in making the toy attractive to a child.

By means of the features of construction shown, an animal toy is secured that may be easily handled by children and which will stand a large amount of rough usage without injury, and may be made to closely represent in looks the animal portrayed.

I claim:

1. A figure toy comprising a body portion composed of two side walls sewed together at their edges to constitute a flange, flexible appendages secured between the marginal portions forming the flange and at substantially opposite points on the body for projecting from said flange, and a strain-resisting member between the side walls directly connecting the appendages together whereby strains tending to separate the appendages will be borne by the strain-resisting member.

An animal toy composed of side Walls connected together at their marginal portions to form a surrounding flange stiffer than the individual side Walls, stuffing between the walls, a normally taut, strain-1e sisting member between said walls, and appendages connected to the strain-resisting member and projecting outwardly beyond the flange.

3. A stuffed animal toy, comprising a body portion composed of two flexible side walls stitched together, a rigid central partition of the same shape as the side walls but of smaller area to hold the walls bulged outwardly and secured about their edges, flexible appendages secured to said partition, and stuffing material between the walls and partition.

4. A stuffed animal toy, comprising a body portion composed of two flexible side walls secured together, a rigid central partition of the same shape as the side walls and secured therebetween and circumferentially thereto to withstand strains on the body portion, flexible appendages secured to said partition, and carrying means secured to said partition.

5.
