ITED STATES Application filed March 17, 192%. Serial No. 699,730.
To all whom it may concern: a
Be it known that I, PERRY B. CLARK, a citizen of the United States. residing at Columbus, in the county of Ohio and State of Ohio, have inventeda certain new and useful Improvement in Loom Locks, of which the following is a specification.
The insurance underwriters are now requiring that the loom or a casing of elec tric conductors passed through the opening in an outlet or other box shall be held from movement in either direction in such an opening and the object of the present invention is to provide a simple, cheap and effective form of device for this purpose.
. The invention is embodied in the example herein shown and described, the features of novelty being finally claimed.
' In the accompanying drawing- .Figure 1 is a front view of the device.
Fig. 2 is a view of the right hand edge of:

a loom and as applied to the wall of an out let box the wall being in section. i
Fig. 5 is a view like Fig. 3 showing the device applied to the box with the loom omitted.
In the views the character 6 designates a installed shall be held from accidental dislodgment. My device for accomplishing this purpose consists of a U-shaped body piece 9 of sheet metal having extended from the inner-edges of the legs thereof spring fingers 10 at the end of which are formed return fingers 11. At the l0wer edge of the U-shaped body is a hookextension 12 and between the fianking legsof said bodyare one or more spurs 13 to penetrate and engage the loom when the latter is Fig. 4 is aview of Fig. 2 as containing PATENT oFFicE.

pressed between the flanking legs. When the loom has been engaged with the spurs 13 the device is moved toward the face of the box and the lower hook 12 hooked over the edge of the opening thereby providing a fulcrum forthe body while-pressing the upper portion of the device towardthe face of the box and the compound fini gers 10-11 through the opening until the return fingers 11 are engaged with the inner side of the wall of the box as best shown in Fig. 5. In this position the compound fingers strongly resist withdrawalof the loom because the tendency of the return fingers is to spread apart on the wall and further away from the hole rather than to contract toward each other and come out of the hole.
Because of its contour and the form the body portionis a comparatively rigid structure especially resisting flexion in the direction of its plane, and the 100m is easily pressed into position between the rigid flanking legs to be engaged by the spurs.
The device can be economically Stamped with suitable dies out of sheet metal.
The forms of the parts can be somewhat.
modified-without departing from the gist of the invention as claimed.
What I claim is:
1. A loom lock consisting of a rigid body portion of fiat U-form, a spring tongue exextending from each of the legs of said flat.
'U-form portion at an angle thereto, said spring tongue having a return hook.
2. A loom lock consisting of a rigid body portion of flat U-form, a spring tongue extending from each of the legs of said flat U-form portion at an angle thereto, said spring tongue having a return hook, and a spring hook at the bend of'the flat U-form portion. r
3. A loom lock consisting of a rigid body portion offlat U-form, a loom-engaging spur between the legs of said U-form portion, a spring tongue extending from each of said legs, said tongue having a return hook and a spring hook at the bend of the flat U-form portion.
