Be it known that I, E i ILLIAM HENRY REYN- OLDS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hastings, in the county of Jefierson and State of Oklahoma, have invented a new and useful Lint Deflector, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a deflecting device to be employed in connection with lint flues of gin stands to eliminate any pos sibility of the lint from the cotton, crowding at one end of the condenser, into which the lint passes.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which will evenly distribute the lint on its passage to the presser box, usually associated with the condenser disposed at one end of a lint flue, to insure an even bale being formed by the presser.
A still further object of the invention is the provision or an adjustable deflecting apparatus whereby the amount of air passing through the lint flue may be controlled so that an even hat of cotton may be thrown into the condenser from one end to the other.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope or what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 5 designates a lint flue which is of the usual construction and through which the lint "from the gin stands passes, pipes 6 being provided for establishing communication between the lint flue 5 and gin stands.

passes and from where the lint is taken to till the press box 8.
It might be stated that with the lint fiues now in use, it has been impossible for the operators to control the flow of lint cotton to the condenser, the lint crowding to one end of the condenser, with the result that when the cotton enters the press box associated with the condenser, the presser forms large ended bales which often breaks the press.
It is therefor-can important object of the invention to provide a deflector which in the present showing is indicated by the reference character 9, the deflector being in the form of acurved plate hingedly connected to a guard 10 that extends laterally from the base plate 11 which acts as a support "for the deflector.
Bolts 12 connect the base plate 11 to the wall of the flue so that the base plate will be held against movement with respect to the flue. Supported on the rear surface of the member 9 is a bracket member 13 to which the rod 14 is adjustably connected as at lo, the rod constituting an operating means whereby the member 9 may be moved with respect to the wall of the lint fine.
A suitable opening is formed in the wall oi the lint flue to accommodate the rod 14, there being provided a packing 16 around the opening to insure an air-tightconnection between the rod 14- and lint fine.

From the foregoing it will be seen that due to this construction, the lint and air passing through the lint flue may be controlled and the direction of travel of the air be changed to accomplish the better positioning of the lint in the condenser.
I claim:
