THOMAS YUSHKA, OF BALTIMRE, MARYLAND, ASSIGNOR F ONE-HALF TO ISABELLA YU'SHKA, 0F BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
SPOOL HOLDER.
Application filed August 1, 1925.
To all whom t may concer/n:
Be it known that I, THOMAS YUsHnA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spool Holders, of. which the following is a. specification.
rIhis invention relates to spool holders.
In factories where clothing is manufactured and a number of sewing machines are used considerable loss is experienced by reason of the fact that dishonest employees are very apt to steal the spools of thread, especially the silk thread, used in the sewing operations.
In large factories this loss is an item of importance as it is difficult to keep track of the number of spools of silk or other thread used and the loss runs into large numbers during the year.
One important object of the present invention is to provide a novel spool holder wherein a number of spools may be locked in such manner as to prevent an unauthorized removal of any spool.
In factories of the class mentioned there is also the need for providing each sewing machine or each operative with thread of different sizes and colors.
A second important object of the present invention is to provide a spool holder wherein a number of different spools may be secured against unauthorized removal, provision being made for suitably leading the thread from the spools to points convenient for use. Y
A third important object of the invention is to provide a device of this character having novel means by which spools of different sizes may be accommodated.
With the above and other objects in view as will be hereinafter apparent, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specically claimed.
In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:
Figure 1 is a front view of a spool holder constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a side view thereof.
Serial No. 47,600.
Figure 3 Figure 1.
Figure l is a top View of the frame which supports these spools.
Figure 5 is a section on the line of Figure 1.
In the embodiment of the invention herein shown there is provided a base so arranged that it may be properly secured, as by screws 11 to a sewing machine or other support where the spools held by the device are to be used. On this base is secured a frame 12 which has downwardly extending legs 13 supporting the frame above the base. Each side of this frame is provided with suitable perforation to receive spool supporting rods le, each of these rods having at: one end an eye 15. The eyes are so arranged on one side of the device and near the top of this side is a fixed eye 1G while a similar eye is fixed to the frame near the bottom. A locking rod 18 extends through the eyes 15 and 17 and has an eye 19 at its upper end which, when the rod is in position, rises along side of the eye 16 so that a lock 20 may be inserted through the eyes 16 and 19 and lock the rod 18 against removal. Extending across the frame close to the top is a guide rod 21 and a similar guide rod 22 extends across the frame close to the bottom. Spacer bars or rods 23 are provided with eyes 24- at each end which engage on the rods 21 and 22 so that the spacci' bars can slide along said rods. The top and bottom members of the frame are provided with guide holes'25 and extending across the front of this frame is a guide bar 26 provided with guide holes 27. Preferably numbers 28 are arranged adjacent the guide holes and 27 to indicate the size or color number of the thread from the spools which are mounted on the rods 111.
It will be observed that the present showing discloses a frame suitable for the reception of 4 rows of spools, the threads from the two middle rows being led through the holes 27 while the threads from the top and bottom rows are led through the holes 25.
In use the spools are positioned on the rods 11i as shown, the guide bars 23 serving to keep 9 tiers of spools separated from the adjacent tier. Then the locking rod 18 is inserted and locked in position by the loclr 20. In this condition all the spools are locked is a section on the line of securely in the frame and cannot be removed by any unauthorized person. y
There has thus been provided a simple and eiiicient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction or' the invention Without departing from the material spirit thereof. It is not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is desired to include all suoli as properly come wit-hin the scope claimed.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as neuv is:
l. In a spool holder, a frame, spool supporting rods extending across said frame and removably supported therein, each ot said rods haring an eye at one end, a locking bar for insertion through said eyes, and means Yfor securing said locking bar removably to said frame. A
2. In a spool holder, a trame, spool supporting rods extending across said frame and removably supported therein, each ot said rods having an eye at one end, a locking bar for insertion through said eyes, an eye on one end of the locking bar, an eye fixed to said frame and positioned to register with the eye on the locking bar, a second eye on said frame through which the locking bar is inserted, and a padlock engaging the eyes on the locking bar and the registering eye on the frame.
8. In a spool holder, a Jtrame, spool supporting rods extending across said frame and removably supported therein, each of said rods having an eye at one end, a locking bar for insertion through said eyes, and means for securing said locking bar removably to said frame, said frame being provided With guide means for the threads from spools carried by said supporting rods.
4:. In a spool holder, a frame, spool supporting rods extending across said frame and removably su-pported therein, each of said rods having an eye at one end, a locking bar for insertion through said eyes, an eye on one end or' the loci-:ing bar, an eye iii-:ed to said frame and positioned to register with the eye on the locking bar, a second eye on said frame through which the locking bar is inserted, and a padlock engaging the eyes on the locking bar and the registering eye on the frame, said frame being provided with guide means for the threads from spools carried by said supporting rods.
5. In a spool holder, a frame, spool supporting rods extending across said frame and removably supported therein, means for locking said ro ls in said frame against unauthorized removal, rods extending across said traine adjacent the top and bottom thereof, and spool spacers slidably supported on the last mentioned rods.
6. In a spool holder, a trame, spool supporting rods extending across said frame and removably supported therein, each of said rods having an eye at one end, a locking bar for insertion through said eyes, means for securing said locking bar removably to said frame, rods extending across said frame adjacent the top and bottom thereo't, and spool spacers siidably supporteu on the last mentioned rods.
7. In a spool holder, a frame, spool supporting rods extending across said frame and removably supported therein, each of said rods :having an eye at one end, a locking bar for insertion through said eyes, an eye on one end of the locking bar, an eye fixed to `said frame and positioned to register ivith the eye on the locking bar, a second eye on said frame through Which the locking bar is inserted, and a padlock engaging the eyes on the looking bar andthe registering eye on the frame, Vrods extending across said frame adjacent the top and bottom thereof, and spool .spacers slidably supported on the last mentioned rods.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
TH OMAS YUSHKA.
