Description

NOV. 10, 1925. v
, J. HEAPS LIFTER MOTION FOR CAP SPINNING FRAMES Filed April 1, 1922'" 'INVEN i O I QQf' ATTORNEY;
therewith only when engaged by the shoulder 55, and the chain 57 is a connecting member which at all times extends between the monkey O and said member 56 and which moves therewith when member 56 revolves.
The difference between the new construction, and the old construction is that in the old construction a gear engages and disengages a rack, while in the new construc tion the members which perform the same functions are in continual engagement thereby preventing wear and banging.
As shown in Fig. 5, I may use in connection with a rack L, a gear such as 8%, which is always in engagement therewith and which has teeth 85 which are engaged at the appropriate time by teeth 86 on shoulder 87 of screw F when it is screwed up.
Gear 84 is not threaded but is loose on the threads 20, and the returning spring 88 between 8% and 22 and stop 89 fixed to rail B keep gear 84: and rack L always in engagement. They limit the movement of the parts and return them to their normal positions. V
In this construction, the rack is the connecting member which always extends between monkey O and the revoluble member 84 loose on the threads of the motion screw and normally revoluble thereon'but revoluble therewith when engaged by teeth 86 on shoulder 87.
I claim:
1. In a Scaife builder motion for spinning frames; the combination with a motion screw having a shoulder beyond which its threads extend; of a long lever; a motion nut through which the motion screw threads pass, carried by the free end of said long lever; a monkey slidable on said long lever; a revoluble member loose on the threads of said motion screw and revoluble therewith, only when engaged by the shoulder; and a connecting member which at all times extends between said monkey and said revoluble member and which moves the monkey when the revoluble member revolves.
2. In a Scaife builder motion for spinning frames; the combination with a mo tion screw having a shoulder beyond which its threads extend; of a long lever; a motion nut through which the motion screw threads pass, carried by the free end of said long lever; a monkey slidable on said long lever; a revoluble member loose on the threads of said motion screw and revoluble therewith, only when engaged by the shoulder; a flexible connecting member which at all times extends between said monkey and said revoluble 'member and which moves the monkey when the revoluble member revolves; and a monkey returning spring between the monkey and the long lever.
JOSEPH HEAPS.
