Be it known that I, HuLnnnrorr M. Stunnnonnn, a citizen of the United States, residingat Climax, in the county of Kalamazoo and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a cabinet and more particularly to an ironing board cabi net and has for its primary object the construction of a combination of neat appearance and having parts so arranged as to be automatic in their operation.

An object of the invention is the construction of a cabinet that may be perma nently mounted in place and having arranged therein an ironing board that may be quickly thrown into operative position and when thrown into operative position will automatically close the circuit to an electric iron, thereby allowing the operator to start work immediately.

Besides the above my invention is distinguished in the novel arrangement of iron rest, switches, cord conductor for the iron, and the specific manner of mounting the board.

\Vith these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing,

Again referring to the drawing illustrating one of the many constructions of my invention the numeral 1 designates a casing that may be secured against the wall or may be built into the wall. The front of this casing is closed by the hinged doors 2. The ironing board 3 is swingingly connected to the interior of the cabinet as indicated at 4.- and when swung to position parallel to the back of the cabinet a clip 5 holds the board in folded position. A hinge 6 swingingly connects the leg 7 to the under surface of the board and movement of the leg is limited by the brace chain 8. Supported upon one of the doors is a rest 9 having a marginal flange 10 so as to properly support Serial No. 554,449.

A very important feature of my invention is the novel manner of automatically closing the circuit to the electric iron when the board is in operative position. The cord conductor 13 of the iron is supported around a hook 14 when the iron is not in use and the plug of this conductor is attached to the socket 15 within the cabinet. Thus it will be seen that the cord is always arranged on the proper side of the ironing board during ironing operation. Arranged in the conductor 16 that passes: to the socket 15 is the switch 17 so arranged that the same will be automatically closed when the board is in operative position as clearly shown in Fig. 8. Besides the automatic switch 17 I provide a hand operated switch 18 of the push button type and fuse block 19.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it will be seen that I provide a cabinet of inexpensive construction that has a number of advantages and which will greatly reduce the time necessary to arrange an ironing board in place and connect the electric iron and electric socket. The novel manner in which the cord conductor is arranged and the cord supported is another feature. of my invention.

It is, of course, to be understood that the invention may be constructed in various other manners and the parts associated in different relations and, therefore, I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claims hereunto appended.

Having thus described my invention what I claim is:

1. A cabinet comprising a casing, an ironing board swingingly mounted within the casing, an electric iron, and a circuit for the electric iron automatically closed when the ironing board is arranged in operative position.

2. In combination with an adjustably mounted ironing board, an electric iron, and means for closing the circuit to the electric iron automatically in adjustment of said ironing board.
