GOOSEIDE, or LONGISLAND crrr, NEW roan.
GAS-SAVING DEVICE.
Application filed August as, 1923'. Serial No. 659,718.
vision of means adapted to be placed in the supply line of a gas stove burner and by the use of which the consumption of gas or fuel is reduced to a minimum whereby the operation of the burner is rendered more economical. i
The primary object of the invention is to provide a device of the above kind which embraces the desired qualities of simplicity and durability in construction as well as efficiency in operation, the device at the same time being "of sucha nature and formas to be easily applied to or removed from the gas supply line and being capable of being readily taken apart for cleaning or repair purposes.
With the above general objects in view, the invention consists in the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in'the accompanying drawings and claimed.
In the drawings, wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the-several views:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary longitudinal sectional view of a supply hose for burners havin a gas saving device constructed in accor ance with the present invention disposed therein.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the gas saving device detached.
Figure 3 is a rear elevational view of the device shown in Figure 2, and
Figure 4 is a front elevational view thereof.
Referring more in detail to the drawing, 5 indicates .a portion of a rubber hose or flexible conduit, employed for conveying the gas from the meter to the gas burner, the gasentering this conduit at the end indicatgd at 6 and leaving at the end indicated at Snugly fitted within this conduit 5 is the gas saving device constituting the present invention which consists of a bullet shaped shell preferably composed of longitudinal half- sections 8 and 9 detachably connected together by threading'one into the other as denoted generally at 10. This shell is-hollowed and has its fiat wall 11, at the intake end thereof "provided with a plurality of reduced openings 12 through which the gas passes into the interior of the shell, the pointed outlet end of said shell being provided with narrow intersecting slits 13 through which the gas flows from the interior of the device in its passage to the burner.
It is believed that the construction and operation as well as the advantages of the present invention will be readily understood and appreciated by those skilled in the art from the foregoing description.
What I claim as new is: I
As a new article of manufacture, a gas saving device adapted -to be inserted into a gas supply hose of elastic formation, a hollow bullet-shaped shell embodying a cylindrical portion closed at one end and open at its opposite end, and a complemental portion detachably connected to the open end and providedwith a reduced pointed nose to facilitate insertion of the device into said hose, the closed end ofsaid first named portion being provided with restricted intake openings, and said nose being slit to provide a, restrlcted discharge.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
ELIAS GOOSEIDE.
