Description

H. GINGER July 24, yi923- GAS BURNER Filed DeC. l1, 1922 INUENTOR wir/755355 .1-
Patented .luly 24, i923.
HENRY GINGER, OF HERTFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND.
GAS BURNER.
Application filed December 11, 1922. Serial No. 606,285.
To all w/wm t may concern.'
Be it known that I, HENRY GINGER, a subject of the King of England, residing at Hertfordshire, in the Kingdom of England, have invented certain new and `useful Improvements in Gas Burners, of which the following is a specification.
`This invention relates to detachable nozzles for inverted gas burners, my object being to provide an improved mixing device fitted in the interior of the nozzle and consisting of a three wing partition set longi tudinally in the nozzle and reaching from the outlet end to the usual screw thread, whereby the gas and air mixture is split into three distinct gas streams which do not reunite at the outlet,4 so permitting of the greater admixture of airj less gas consu1nption, better lighting elfect and a silent flame.
In order that my invention may be clearly understood and readily carried into etl'ect, I will describe the same fully with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a longitudinal section of a detachable gas nozzle fitted with my improved mixinor device; F ig. 2 is a corresponding plan; iig. 3 is a perspective elevational view of the mixing device separately, and Fig. fl is an end View of same.
According to the invention, I provide in the usual type of separate or detachable burner nozzle A a three wing partition a', disposed in the longitudinal direction and secured in the desired position by any suitable means, preferably by casting the portion A on to the partition c.
ridvantageously the partition is made oi metal although it may also consist of retractory material and its extremityY facing the direction of the internal flow of gas and air, or both extremities, must be bevelled or sharpened so as to avoid interference with, or causing eddies in the How.
lVith this separate fitting, no regulating device lor the gas is necessary nor is there need of wire gauze as often fitted in burner tubes. Maximum amount of air can be safely admitted and the mixture issues in three distinct jets the elect of which is to give a brilliant light at small gas consumption and with no hissing or other noise.
l claim A detachable nozzle for inverted gas burners fitted internally with a three wing partition extending longitudinally from the outlet end up to the usual screw threaded portion to provide three separate j ets ot gas and air mixture which do not reunite at the nozzle outlet, the ends of said partition being bevelled, as described.
HENRY GINGER.
