from one fuel to another as well as the use of both gaseous and liquid combustibles simultaneously during the period of change.
A further object is to provide a means of supplying a coolin medium to the heated parts through the 1 gas: chamber while burning-oil and through the-air register while burning gaseous fuel to prevent:over-heating and distortion of parts.

This fitting is provided with a plug 32 which may be removed when gas is not used to provide means for delivering air to the diffuser and a threaded portion 33-for attaching a flexible gas hose or other pipe to any gas supply. It will be apparent from the foregoing description that when the gas supply is shut off, the plug 32 can be removed connecting the gas chamber 42 with the, air

Fuel burning apparatus for furnaces comprising a liquid fuel atomizer, a diffuser surrounding said atomizer and having openings therein, a chamber supported in proximity to said diffuser and having outlets in the Wall thereof adapted to discharge a gaseous fuel through the openings in the diffuser, and a connection to, said chamber for supplying a gaseous fuel thereto.
2. Fuel burning apparatus for furnaces comprising a liquid fuel atomizer, a diffuser surrounding said atomizer and having openings therein, a chamber supported in proximity to said diffuser and having outlets in the Wall thereof adapted to discharge a gaseous fuel through the openings in the diffuser, a connection to said chamber for supplying a gaseous fuel thereto, and means for admitting air to said vchamber When the gas supply is cut .off. i

Fuel burning apparatusfor furnaces comprising a liquid fuel atomizer, a gas chamber surrounding the atomizer supply pipe and having extensions therefrom surrounding the atomizer and having discharge outlets for the gas, and a conical shaped diffuser having openings therein and supported upon said gas chamber on the furnace side of said extensions.
