UNITED STATES WALTON ELBERT NICKLIN, F PRYOR, OKLAHOMA.
PAID.
Application filed December 4, 1924. Serial No. 753,903.
To all 10710711. t may concern:
Be it known that I, IVAL'roN E. 4NICKLIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pryor, in the county of Mayes and State of Oklahoma, have invented a new and useful Pad, of which the following is a specifica tion.
rlhis invention aims to provide a calendar pad so constructed that a person may have before him a ready reminder of work which must be done at some future time, the device being simple in construction and inexpensive to manufacture.
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that sort to which the invention appertains.
Although a preferred form of the invention has been shown in the drawings, it will be understood that a printer, working within the scope of what is claimed, may make changes and alterations without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 shows in plan, a device constructed in accordance with the invention; Figure 2 is a plan showing another part of the pad. Q
In carrying out the invention, there is provided a pad 1 including a plurality of upper leaves 2 and a lower leaf 3. The leaves 2 and 3 are provided with spaces 4 upon which memoranda may be inscribed, the spaces 4 being marked, as shown at 5, with the names of the days of the week. The lower leaf 3 is supplied with. one or more monthly calendars G, and the upper leaves 2 have registering openings 7 through which all of the calendars 6 are disclosed. The 0 spaces 41- are `marked as shown at 8 to indicate the days of the month, as shown by the calendars 6.
Upon any advanced page, (for instance, the 30th of March, as shown in Figure 2), 5 the operator may write in the appropriate space 4, the necessary memoranda, as shown at 9. Then, through one of the openings 7,
he checks off the date of March 30, on the appropriate calendar 6, as shown at 10. The result is that, although the page which carries the memorandum 9 may be hidden, the date of March 30th, always is under the eye, and the operator is admonished that, upon that day, he has work which must be done'.
The last leaf of the pad may carry a calendar 11 for the entire year. Such a calendar will be of use in counting ahead, to ascertain the number of days which will elapse before the doing of some acts which will be represented by the memorandum shown at 9.
Holidays will be appropriately indicated, as shown at 12, on each of the leaves, and, on each of the leaves, as shown at 14, will be indicated the days of the month which are covered by the week represented on any leaf. Each leaf is also marked, as shown at 15, with the name of the month, and, as shown at 16, with date indicating the year.
Although calendars for three mont-hs appear through the openings 7, it will be understood that more or less than three months may be thus disclosed. The construction shown at 6-7, of course, is carried out to cover all the months of the year, it being unnecessary to show all of the leaves. A
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is 'A pad comprising a lower leaf provided with a calendar including numerals designating the days of a month, and upper leaves superposed on the lower leaf, the upper leaves having registering openings disclosing the calendar, the upper leaves having appropriately designated spaces for memoranda, said spaces being marked with the days of the week and being marked with some of the numerals which designate the days of the month on the calendar.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto afliXed my signature.
WALToN ELBERT NICKLIN.
