To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, IRVING H. FISHELOV, a citizen of Russia, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Holders for'Miniature Loud Speakers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to improvements in devices for holding miniature loud speakers, and it consists in the combinations, constructions, and arrangements herein described and claimed.
An object of my invention is to provide adevice for holding a miniature loud speaker, consisting of a figure of a human being or animal, printed, painted, embossed, or otherwise made on a sheet, and adapted to hold the miniature loud speaker in such a position that the bell portion of the loud speaker simulates the lips of the figure, while the base simulates an ornamentation on the body portion of the figure.
A further object of my invention is to provide a novelty in which a miniature loud speaker is held in conjunction with a figure such as that described, part of the loud speaker being concealed, while the parts in view simulate parts of the figure itself.
A further object of my invent-ion is to provide a device of the type described, in which the miniature loud speaker may be easily removed and may be used as a toy itself.
Other objects and advantages will appear in the following specification, and the novel features of the invention will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming part of this application, in which Figure 1 is a face View of the device with the miniature loud speaker in position,
Figure 2 is a face View of the device with the miniature loud speaker removed, and
Figure 3 is a section along the line 3-3 of Figure 1, the miniature loud speaker being in elevation.
In carrying out my invention, I provide a holder which is preferably in a box-like form. This consists of a piece of cardboard 1, having side portions 2 and end portions 3 bent at right angles to the body portion. On the outer face of the body portion is a figure of a human being or animal. In
the present instance, however, I have shown the caricature of a girl having a head portion 4, a neck portion 5, and a body portion 6. In the head portion is a rectangular opening 7 (see Figure 2). In the body portion is a rectangular opening 8, whose major axis is at right angles to that of the opening 7, while between the openings 7 and 8 is a slot 9.
V The miniature loud speaker is shown in elevation in Figure 3. It consists of a bell or mouth portion 10, a gooseneck 11, and a base portion 12.
In using the device, the gooseneck is forced through the slot 9, the edges of the holder adjacent the slot bending to permit the entrance thereof. The opening 7, it will be observed, is rounded at the top so as to permit the entrance of the bell to a desired depth. In order to hold the miniature loud speaker firmly, I provide a partition 13 having an opening into which the gooseneck 11 fits, the base 12 passing through the opening 8 and resting upon the partition as shown in the drawings. The ends of the partition 13 may be bent rearwardly to engage the rear wall of the box, thus holding the loud speaker firmly in position.
It will be observed that the bell simulates the mouth or lips of the figure, while the base portion simulates an ornament, such as a tie or bow, so that on first inspection the miniature loud speaker parts appear to be portions of the figure itself.
The construction is such that the minature loud speaker may be easily removed by pulling outwardly, the portion of the box adjacent to the slot 9 giving to permit the re moval or replacement of the miniature loud speaker, as desired.
claim:
1. A holder for a miniature loud speaker comprising a support, a flexible sheet carried thereby and having a representation of a living being thereon, said sheet having an opening in the mouth portion of the figure arranged to receive the bell of the miniature loud speaker, whereby the bell simulates the mouth of the figure.
2. A holder for a miniature loud speaker comprising a support, a flexible sheet carried thereby and having a representation of a living being thereon, said sheet having an opening in the mouth portion of the figure, a second opening in the body of the figure,
and a slot connecting said openings, the first opening being arranged to receive the bell of the loud speaker, the second opening being arranged to receive the base of the loud speaker, and the slot permitting the insertion of the intermediate portion of the loud speaker, the walls adjacent the slot being adapted to spring back into position and conceal the intermediate: portion.
3. A holder for a miniature loud speaker comprising a supprt, a flexible sheet carried thereby and having a representation of a living being thereon, said sheet having an opening in the mouth portion of the figure, a second opening in the body of the figure, and a slot connecting said openings, said first named opening being arranged to receive the bell portion of the loud speaker, whereby the bell simulates the mouth of the figure, and the second opening being arranged to receive the base of the loud speaker, whereby the base simulates an ornament on the body portion of the figure.
4. A holder for a miniature loud speaker comprising a support, a flexible sheet carried thereby and having a representation of a living being thereon, said sheet having an opening in the mouth portion of the figure, a second opening in the body of the figure, and a slot connecting said openings, said first named opening being arranged to receive the bell portion of the loud speaker, whereby the bell simulates the mouth of the figure, the second opening being arranged to receive the base of the loud speaker,- whereby the base simulates an ornament on the body portion of the figure, and an auxiliary supporting means disposed in the rear of the flexible sheet and arranged to engage portions of the loud speaker,
