IMPROVEMENT IN ICE-HAMMERS, PICKS, AND LEMON-SQUEEZERS COMBINED.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 155,579, dated October 6, 1874; application filed July 16, mm.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THoMAs HAGERTY, of
Richmond, in the county of Henrico and State of Virginia, have invented a Combined Ice- Hammer, Pick, and Lemon-Squeezer; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full,
clear, and exact description of the same, ref-- in one simple and convenient instrument, an.
ice-hammer, an ice-pick, and alemon-squeezer and to this end, the invention consists in the improved instrument constructed and operating as hereinafter described.
In the drawings, A A are the handles, one being slotted laterally to accommodate the other, and the two being pivoted together at p, and, if preferred, recessed and corrugated at n, to form a nut-cracker. The front end of one of the handles is expanded into a cup, 0, perforated to allow the lemon-j nice to escape. The front end of the other handle is also expanded into a squeezer, S, which fits into the cup G, and serves to express the juice from the lemon placed in' the cup. The hammerhead H is attached to one edge, and the icepick I to the other edge, of the cup, as represented. The inside of the cup and the sur face of the squeezer may be tinned or enameled in any suitable manner, to prevent them from rusting.
Instead of a pick, a blade may be substituted, for the purpose of cutting the ice, and the end of the handle may be made sharp, to serve as a pick, or a pick may be attached to the front edge of the cup, opposite to the handles. The instrument should be made of malleable or wrought iron, to insure sufficient strength.
