Description

Patented Sept. 29, 1925.
UNITED STATES MICHAEL L. MILBAUE'CR, OF ROUNIDUP, MON'IANA.
NEEIQLE.
Application filed December 2, 1922.
T all whom 2't may concemz:
Be it known that I, MICHAEL L. MIL- BAUER, a citizen of the United Stabes, resid ing at Roundup, in the county 0f Mussel- 5 shell and State of Montana, have invented new 2ind useful Improvements in Needles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relz'xtes t0 a needle, the general object 0f the invention being to provide a device for threading laces through belts and the like.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination und arrangement of the sex eral parts, 130 be hereinafter fu1ly described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and s pecifically pointed 0ut in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, ref- O erence Will be had t0 the accompanying drawings wherein like charactens denote 1ike 0r corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is an elevation of the improved needle.
Figures 2 and 3 are detail views of this needle.
As shown in these figures the needle 1 is 0f tapered shape 2md has an eye 2 at its head for receiving the lacing 01' thread. Inclined slots 3 are formed in the Walls of t-he needle and communicate With the Seria1 N0. 604,544.
eye. A pin 4 extends through the eye and has its ends engaging the slots, the in being provided with roughened Parts, shown at 5. The lacing er thread 6 is passed. int0 the eye and under the pin. T110 pin is then permitted t0 dr0p upon the thread 01 lacing so that when the same i5 streched by a pul'l upon the needle bhe tendency 0f the needle t0 pu1l away from the thread Will cause the pin to have n wedge action upon [he thread and thus clamp the same in the eye. As Will b2 seen the head o1 rear part 0f the needle is 4 larger than the body 01' pointed part there- 0f and the head 01 rear part is also 0f greater diametar than the thread 01 lacinp; so that the needle Will make a hole larger than the lacing o1 thread and thus the lacing or thread Will Pass easily through the hole made by the needle.
Nhat I claim is:
A neadle 0'f the dass described having its rear part 0'f g1eater dimensions than the rast 0f the needle, said rear part having an opening therein for receiving a thread 01 lacing, means for holding the thread 01 lacing in the opening, such means consisting 0'f a wedging bar and inclinecl s1ots for receiving the ends 0f the bar.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
MICHAEL L. MILBAUER.
