G. J. KEENE GARTER Filed Aug. 1924 .INVENTOR U BY 1% I ATTORNEY l atented Aug. 25, 1925.
PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE J. KEENE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
GARTER.
Application filed August 6, 1924. Serial No. 730,492.
To all. wrkomt may concern:
Be it known that 'I, GEORGE J. KEENE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois,-have invented new and useful Improvements in Garters, of which the follow ing is a specification. p
This invention relates to a garter and has for its primary object the construction of a garter that may be more accurately attached to legs of different shapes.
An object of the invention is the construction of a garter which may be more properly adjusted and will be positively prevented from becoming disconnected.
A feature of my invention is the novel combination and arrangement of parts so that undue pressure will not be brought to bear on any particular portion of the leg.
WVith these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the garter.
Fig. 2 is an edge elevation.
Again referring to the drawing illustrating one of the many constructions of my invention the numeral 1 designates the body 30 of the garter to which is connected the fastener 2, loop 3 and one end of the strip 4. The other end of this strip 4 is connected to a link 5 adapted to'be passed through the lo-op'tobring through the strip 4 for wrapping engagement around the leg in the manner shown in Fig.2. This wound around the button for connecting link5 has one end of a flexible non-elastic member 6 attached thereto and this member, which may be in the form of a cord or ribbon, is adapted to be wound around the but- 40 ton with the end arranged behind the strip.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it will be apparent that the garter may be more readily attached to the leg by the insertion of the strip through the loop and proper pressure brought to bear upon the leg after which the flexible member 6 is parts together.
It is, of course, to be understood that various other construct-ions of flexible element may be used for wrapping around the leg and may be connected in other relations, therefore, I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claim hereunto appended. y p
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:'
A garter comprising a body portion, a loop at one end, a strip extending from the opposite end, a fastener extending from the body portion, a button secured to the body portion, a link connected tothe strip and adapted to pass through said loop for drawing the stripthrough the loop,,and a flexible member having one edge attached to the link and adapted to be wound around the said button. I V
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
GEORGE J. KEENE.
