BALL-THROWING GAME.

Application filed November 20, 1923. Serial No. 675,935.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM LAMBERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Point, in the county of Fulton and State of Georgia, have invented a new Ball- Throwing Game.

The following is the specification:

This invention relates to an improved game, which I have, for the sake of convenience, termed a ball throwing game.

Games of the type about to be described are commonly seen at places of amusement, such as carnivals, show grounds, and the like. The game that I have reference to is the kind wherein the person throws a ball or other projectile over a predetermined distance at an object, either a ball or a figure, for knocking the same down, it being the object of play to make each and every throw count to win a prize, such as is usually offered.

I am aware thatgames similar to the one which I am about to describe and show are not broadly new, but it is my impression that I-have evolved and produced a game of the kind briefly described, which embodies novel details and arrangement of parts, such as will be clearly set out in the following detailed description and subsequent claims.

The features and advantages accompanying the improved detailed arrangement will become apparent from the following detailed description and drawing.

In the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this application, and in which like numerals are employed vto designate like parts throughout the same:

Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device, constructed in accordance with the present invention.

Figure 2 is an enlarged rear elevation of a portion of the device.

Figure 3 is a front elevation thereof.

In carrying out the invention, I employ a support 5. In the present instance, the support is in the form of a board, which has been cut to simulate the upper portion of a womans body and head. Of course, the figure could be of any other configuration, but it is believed that the one shown would be attractive for the purpose. Secured to the rear side of the body 5 is a spring hinge 3, the leaves of which are riveted or otherwise connected with the I body. As is usual, the missiles in the form of balls are thrown from a predetermined distance in an effortto dislodge the object 1 from its position. If the object is knocked off, in so many throws, a prize is awarded for the skill-shown. Insome instances, the object may be removably positioned in its seat, while in other instances, it may be connected to the upper end of the arm, so that when it is struck by the ball it will be moved backwardly with the arm. The spring of the hinge automatically returns the arm to its normal position for the next operation.

It is thought that the foregoing description taken in connection wit-h the drawing will suffice to enable persons skilled in the art to which the invention relates to obtain a clear comprehension of the same. For this reason I do not believe it necessary to enter a more lengthy description.

I'claim:

1. A device of the class described comprising a body, a spring hinge secured to said'body, an arm connected to one of the leaves of the hinge and having its upper end disposed above the top of said body, said upper end being fashioned forassociation with an object adapted to be struck by a thrown missile.

2. A device of the class described comprising a body, havingit-s margin shaped to provide a simulation of a figure including a bodyand a head, a hinge secured to the rear side of said body, spring meansin association with said hinge for acting on one of the leaves thereon, an arm secured to said one leaf, said arm having its upper end extended above the top of the head of said figure and bent downwardly to provide a seat for an object.
