GAME APPARATUS.
Specification of Letters'Patent. Patented Feb. 7, 1922.
Application filed january as, 1920." Serial'No. 354,542.
To all whom'it may concern:
Be it known that 1, FRAN 'P. CAWLEY, a citizen of the United States," residing at Pittsburgh, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
his invention relates broadly to game apparatus and more particularly to a miniature bowling alley, and the primary object thereof is to provide a device of the character described, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, which is especially adapted for use in the home and which requires the usual skill for playing the same as when playing the game on a bowling alley of the ordinary size. 7
Further objects of the invention are to providea game apparatus of the class specified which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable and efficient in its use, amusing, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.
To the accomplishment of these and such other objects as may hereinafter appear the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement or parts herein specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, 'wherein is shownan embodimentof the invention, but it is to be understood that the device shown is merely illustrative and that various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to, without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention, which come within the scope of the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawing forming a portion of this specification and wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the bowling game apparatus in accordance with this invention. V
Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary view of the frame and associated flexible adjusting members.
Referring in detail to the drawing the game apparatus in accordance with this invention comprises an elongated flat bowling board 1, having an upwardly curved rear end 2 and secured to the lower'face of the board 1, at the forward end thereof, is a rec- .of foldable frame members 5 and 6,
' cally adjustable,
tiles 15 and tangular receptacle, having an open top and which constitutes a pin-receiver 3.
The bowling board 1 is mounted on 'a suit-- able supporting frame 4: consisting of a pair I I pivotally connected'together at their centers by a horizontal bar 7. The bowling board 1 is vertito suit the player, upon the supporting frame 4 by expanding or contracting the frame members 5 and 6 relatively to each other by means of the flexible adjusting member 8 which is connected to the horizontal bracing rods 9 and 10, respectively securing the frame members 5 and 6.
the forward end of the bowling board 1, is secured to the forward end of the latterand is adapted for the. reception of the projecthe dislodged pins 16 during the playing operation. The receiver 3 consists of the bottom 17 provided with side walls 18 and 19 and with end walls 20 and 21, and may be detachably connected to the bowling board 1, if desired,or permanently affixed thereto.
elongatednarrow rectangular channel shaped member is arranged at one side of the board 1 and provides a runway 22, and the latter is detachably carried by and spaced from the board 1. The runway 22 extends from a point in close proximity to the receiver 3 to the rear end of the apparatus rear end, to permit an attendant to return the projectiles 15 by gravity to the player at the rear end. The runway 22 is independent of and does not open into the receiver 3, and is in a plane to one side of the receiver 3.
The bowling board is curved at its rear end, as at 2, to give sufficient impetus to the projectile 15 to travel the length of the bowling board 1 and dislodgethe pins 16 which come in contact therewith.
and is slightly declined toward said Bowling on a miniature board, in accordance with this invention, requires the same skill as that required on a regulation alley, and depends upon the manipulation of the pro e'ct-ile 15 on leaving the hand of the of said board and projecting forwardly from player.
t The device, being primarily intended for use in the home, may be readily set up for use or taken down and folded up so as to reguire but little space in storing, and provi es a fascinating pastime for bowling enthusiasts.
What I claim is A game apparatus comprising a foldable frame having adjustable flexible supporting members, a bowling board mounted on said frame and having a flat forward end and an upwardly curved rear end, a rectangular receptacle constituting a pin receiver secured to the lower face of flat forward end and of greater width than said flat forward end, a runway carried by and extended from the receiver towards the curved end, and pins adapted to be mounted on the fiat end and adapted tobe dislodged by a projectile bowled on said board.
Intestimony whereof I afiix my signature.
, FRANK P. CAWLEY.
