In all of the figures of the drawing, the head of the doll, except for the addition of theimprovements herein described, is of a well-known standard type in which the head 1 is formed in one piece with the shoulder portion 2. The shoulder portion of heads of this type is usually of the shape shown in the drawings and comprises a breast plate and back plate which straddle and extend over the upper part of the body a sufficient distance to enable the shoulder portion to be glued directly to the body. Furthermore, the shoulder portion of heads of this type is usually of sufiicient size and extent to cover that part of the body which would otherwisebe exposed. if the doll is clothed in low-neck dresses. As stated above, heads of thistype are usually glued directly to a stuffed body. In accordance with this invention, however, the head is provided with one part of a detachable connection, the other part of which is associated with the body. Various different methods of detachably connecting the head to the body are illustrated in the drawing. In Figs. 1 to 3 inclusive, the body 3 has glued or otherwise secured thereto an auxiliary shoulder piece 4 which is provided with a resilient stud or ball 5. The head portion 1 has formed on the interior wall of the neck a circular rib or projection 6 whichconstitutes a socket to receive the stud member 5; It desired the rib 6 may be made to constitute an integral part of the head portion by being moulded in the neck at the same time the head portion is moulded. A doll or similar toy having a body, a head and shoulder portion formed in one piece, said shoulder portion being adapted to extend over a part of theupper portion of the body, and a detachable connection between the body and the one-piece head and shoulder portion, one element of said detachable connection being associated with the head and shoulder portion and the other element being associated with the body.

A doll or similar toy having a body, a head and shoulder portion formed in one piece, said shoulder portion comprising a breast plate and a back plate, and a detaclr able connection bet yeen the body and the one-piece head and shoulder portion, one element of said detachable connection being associated with the head and'shoulder portion and the other element being associated with the body.

A doll or similar toy having a stuffed body, a shoulder piece secured thereto provided with one element of a detachable con nection, and a head and shoulder portion formed in one piece and provided with the other element of the detachable connection, said shoulder portion on the head being adapted to extend over and at least partly cover the shoulder piece secured to the body and said detachable connection being operable without requiring access to the interior of the head.

A doll or similar toy having a body, a head and shoulder portion formed in one piece, said shoulder portion being adapted to extend over a part of the upper portion o1 the body, and a detachable connection between the body and the one piece head and shoulder portion, one element of said detachable connection being associated with the head and shoulder portion and the other element being associated with the body, said detachable connection being operable by manipulation outside or" the head.
