CHARLES H. KING, OF CENTRAL FALLS, RHODE ISLAND.
IMPRPVEMENT IN LAMP-BRACKETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 154,399, dated August 25, 1874 application filed March 14, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, CHARLES H. KING, of (Jentral Falls, in the county of Providence and State of lthode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Lamp-Bracket, of which the following is a specification In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a side elevation of my improved lam pbracket; and Fig. 2 is a horizontal section of the same on the line a c, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
A in the drawing represents a base supporting-clamp of the usual construction, which is firmly attached to any desirable object by setscrews B. The curved arm 0 turns by a riveted pin or pivot, a, in the heavier part of clamp A, base-disk b of arm 0 turning on top disk b of the clamp, and giving thereby a stable support to the arm. A set-screw, d, passes through disk a, and connects the arm firmly to the clamp after the arm has been placed in the required direction. Arm 0 may be of double T or other suitable cross-section, and finished with a view to lightness and ornamented appearance, being connected at its upper curved end by pivot and fastening-screw c to a second curved arm of smaller size, as shown in Fig. 1, to which is attached in similar manner. by pivot-pin and clamp-screw f, the basket E for supporting the lamp. If desired, a greater humber of intermediate arms may be used to produce a still greater reach and adjustability. Themain arm swings in any direction of the circle, and may be fastened by the baseclamp to any object and under any inclination, while the adjustable upper arms and basket regulate the height and produce the horizontal position of the lamp. The flexibility of the bracket admits of its unlimited and useful application for the various purposes, and its easy detaching and storing away when not needed.
Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The lamp-bracket herein described, consist ing of the clamp A, arms (3 D, and basket E, the said parts being constructed and arranged as and for the purpose specified.
CHARLES H. KING.
