UNITED STATES PATENTOFFICE.

'Application led October 27, 1923.Y Serial No. 671,248.
To all whom t may concer-n.'
Be it known that I, SYLvnsrnn GEO. STE- VENS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Thresholds, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing. f
This invention relates to door openings and has special reference to a removable combination threshold and conduit.
rhe object of the invention is to provide the simplest means possible for conducting a liquir transverse the lower portion of a door opening, thus rendering it possible to install a steam or hot water system within a house without cutting through theloor to pass a door-opening, the threshold resting directly upon the fioor boards.
Other' objects and advantages of the invention will appear in the further description thereof.
VIteferrimg to the accompanying drawing forming part of this application and in which like reference characters indicate like parts:
Figure l is a perspective View of one of the improved conduit thresholds;
Figure 2 is a fragmentary perspective view of' a modied form of same;
Figure 3 is a transverse section centrally of a singlechambered threshold; and
Figure d is a similar viewof a double cliainberod threshold.
l represents the threshold made prefersimilar hole 5 on the top thereof, these.
holes being for the installation of the pipe line, whether steam or water, said pipe connections being modiiedly shown at 6 and 7.
In the type shown in Figure 2 a boss 8 is formed upon the corner of the threshold l which may prove a desirable form of construction, and in Figure 3 a single chamber' 9 is shown which of course connnunicates with the intake and dischargepopenings,
wherever or whatever they may be, while in Figure d I have shown double chambers 10 and ll, which as is obvious may communicate with their respective pipe lines and used in the event of it being desirable to return the circuit in the same threshold.
Having-thus Ydescribed my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is: v
l. vThe combination with 'a house door opening, of a hollow threshold therefor eX- tending wholly across the opening on top of the floor and forming part of the frame for the opening, and pipe connecting means, for communication with the interior of the threshold, spaced from either side of the door opening.
2.. A hollow conduit threshold of the class described, being flat upon the lower face thereof, the upper surface inclined upwardly from the side edges, and pip-e connections at the corners thereof fer communication' with the interior of the threshold.
3. A unitary conduit threshold of the type described shaped to fit within a door opening upon the floor beneath the door' and `having pipe connections in the corners thereof spaced from the door opening.
4. Thecombination withhousehold heating circulating pipes, ofl a unitary conduit threshold for doors within the house, said thresholds resting upon the floor within the door openings and pipe connections at the corners of the thresholds spaced from the door openings. c
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature..
