To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK J. KRIsToIEK, a citizen of'the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Handy Pads, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to a handy pad including a receptacle for holding a pad of loose sheets of paper wherein the sheets are freely removable as desired. A cover is hinged to the receptacle in a manner to adjust itself at an inclined angle when the same is open and to cover the major portion of the receptacle when closed. 1

My invention includes resilient means to hold or adjust the leaves of the pad into a position so that they can be easily engaged and removed to be used for memorandum or other purposes as may be desired. The resilient adjusting means elevates the forward end of the pad against stops which prevent the sheets from projecting out of the receptacle when the same is open, whilethe front wall of the receptacle is cut away to provide a finger opening. This construction allows the last sheet of the pad to be removed as readily as the first.

The inner surface of this cover is adapted to form a display means upon which a pocket may be providedto support a calendar pad in a manner so that when the cover is in closed position the pocket projects into the receptacle, to allow the cover to fold against the upper edges of the same to lie in a plane parallel to the bottom. 1

The cover is provided with attaching ears formed integral therewith which project from the side and end so as to hingedly attach the cover to the receptacle body in a manner to cause the attached end of the cover to engage the upper surface of the receptacle to support the cover in a backward ly inclined angle, when the free'end of the cover is raised into open position. 'In this manner the cover is supported similar to an easel so as to readily display the inner surface thereof together with a calendar or other display matter attached thereto. This construction allows the handy pad to be folded into a small compact state for shipping and to form an attractive display when open.

The handy pad A iscomposed of a receptacleor container B having a general rectangular shape in which a pad 0 of loose sheets 10 is held collectively; The receptacle B is formed of thin sheet material of any suitable nature. j

The handy pad A is adapted to be supportedby suitable corner members'll which form legs or supports for the receptacle and act as braces Ior the corners of the same. The supporting. members or legs 11 are rigidly secured by spot-welding or other suitable means to the body of the receptacle B.

The. pad C is held in the receptacle with the leaves or sheets 10 freely disposed so that they can be removed separately. The front wall 12 and the bottom 13 of the receptacle are cutaway centrally to form a recesslt at'the front so the sheets can be easily engaged with the fingers to remove them from the receptacle C. I

Spring fingers 15 are cut from the body of the bottom 13 of the receptacle B and are bent to project upwardly so as'to tend to force or hold the forward ends of-thesheets 10 upward against the stops 16. The stops 16 are formed integral with the sides 17 and project inward from the forward upper edges of the "same." Asth'e sheets are used from the pad G and the size of the pad diminishes'the springfingers 15 forcethe re,- maining sheets in the receptacle upward against the shoulders or stops 16 and the recess 14' allows the remaining sheets to be removed individually or collectively very easily.

A cover D is hingedly secured to the sides 17 by means of the attaching ears 18 in ,a manner to cause the rear edge 19 of the cover to engage against the upper edges 20 of the sides 17, forming a shoulder to limit the backward movement of the free end 21 of the cover D. The ears 18 project down- Ward and-away from the edge 19 to! permit the cover to berraised and moved intoa backwardly inclining angle in relation ,.to the receptacle B before the edgei19 engages the edges 20. This construction,permitsithe cover D to be securedby suitable eyelets'22 tanc'exfrom the rear wall 23, of the'receptacle.

What I claim is:
