Be it known that 1., Flinn V. Donn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Creston, in the county oi Union and State of Iowa, have invented it new and useful Egg Carrier, of which the following is u specification.

This invention relates to u device of that type generally known as (in carrier}, one of the objects of the invention being to provide a. structure of this cl'nirncter into which an tilled carton of the usual cellular type can be inserted readily and held securely, certain portions of the carton. cooperating with peculiarly shaped surfaces of the carrier so as to provide cushions which will prevent the eggs from becoming broken in transit.

Another object is to provide a similar means whereby the carton can be ejected readily from the carrier.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the coinbineticn and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing 't'roin the spirit oi the invention.

Suitably located on the top and bottom feces of the currier are rounded projections 7 formed by pressing the n'ietzil outwardly to produce recesses 8. These recesses {UTE-SO- located as to extend across the centers of the holding cells in a carton to be used in the carrier.

Vhat is claimed is 1. An egg carrier including a box-like container having an open carton receiving end, there being an aperture in the other end of the carrier for the reception of carton ejecting means, a carton retainer movably engaging the carrier adjacent the open end thereof, said retainer comprising a resilient member slidable Within spaced apertures in the carrier, and means upon opposed portions of the retainer and cooperating with the walls of the apertures for holding the retainer in carton retaining position.

An egg carrier including a box-like container having an open carton receiving end, there being an aperture in the other end of the carrier for the reception of carton ejecting means, a carton retainer movably engaging the carrier adjacent the open end thereof, said retainer comprising a resilient member slid-able Within spaced apertures in the carrier, and means upon opposed portions of the retainer and cooperating with the Walls of the apertures for holding the retainer in carton retaining position, said carrier being otl'set, to receive a portion of the retainer when moved out of the path of the carton in the carrier.
