Description

Patented Sept. 9, 1924.
UNITED STATES CHARLES LEFKOWITZ, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
GARBOY.
Application filed July 3, 1923.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that LCHARLEs LEFKOWITZ, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Carboy, of which the fol lowing is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention has for its object to provide a carboy which may be manufactured at little expense and one which will meet all the tests of severe commercial use.
Another object of the invention is to provide a carboy with corner pieces with recesses forming with the body of the carboy, guide-ways to receive guide-members to which are secured resilient lateral supporting members for the bottle which is deposited in the carboy.
Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which the preferred form of my invention is described:
In the drawings similar reference characters refer to similar parts in all the views in which,-
Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view showing my improved carboy.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing one of the lateral supporting members, and
Fig. 4 is a fragmentary view showing in' perspective one of the corner pieces.
On referring to the drawings it will be seen that the carboy is provided with a hollow body A, and disposed in the hollow body A and secured to the corners of the hollow body, there are corner pieces B. Each of the four corner pieces B has two recesses C; each of the recesses C having a wall D, which is disposed longitudinally of a side of the carboy and a wall E, which is disposed at an angle to the wall D, and which extends outwardly to the body of the Serial No. 649,336.
carboy so that the recesses G with the outer wall of the carboy will form guide-ways.
Disposed in these guide-ways there areguide-me'mbers F. Connecting the guidemembers F at each side of the carboy, there are lateral supporting members G, which are resilient and against which the bottle in the carboy is disposed as indicated by the dotted lines in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
The bottle in the carboy rests on the resilient supporting base H, as is shown in the drawings.
Having thus described my inventionwhat I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
1. In a carboy, a hollow body, corner pieces spaced apart in the bodyv and securedthereto, each corner piece having two recesses, each recess having two walls, one disposed longitudinally of the side of the body and the other at an angle to the first wall and outwardly to the body to form with the body a guideway, guide members disposed in the guideways, and lateral supporting members secured to the inner sides of-the guide members and connecting the latter, the lateral supporting members being in this way spaced from the body.
2. In a carboy a hollow body, corner CHARLES LEFKOWITZ.
