IMPROVEMENT IN FEED-GAGES FOR PRINTING-PRESSES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 152,809, dated July 7, 1574; application filed May 29,1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J oHN H. PINKs, of lVoodstock, Windsor county, Vermont, have invented a new and Improved Feed-Gage for Printing-Presses, of which the following is a specication My invention consists of a pair oi' registering-gages for receiving and holding the paper sheets to be printed, mounted on jointed arms which are pivoted to the tympan-clamp, and so contrived that they can he shifted to hohl paper of any size that can be printed in the press more readily than other guides.
Figure l is afront elevation of my improved registering-gage. lt also shows the platen and tympan-clamps in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a top View ofthe gage and a portion of the tympanclamp, which is also sectioned in a small part to show the mode of connecting the gage to the clamp.

A represents a couple of little flanged buttons for receiving and holding the paper, a. TheseV buttons are each connected to one end of a jointed arm, B C, of thin steel or other suitable metal, which, at its other end, is pivoted to the tympan-clamp D by a screw or other equivalent device, so'that it can he shifted both on its pivot and its joint F, to adjust the buttons to any position required within the range of the platen G, according to the size of the paper to be printed. In this case the two arms are connected to the tympan-clamp by one screw, E 5 but a separate screw for each may be used, if preferred.
