In Figure 3 a still further modisupporter and the same is preferably formed fication is shown wherein the head portion of a single piece of wire in the manner to is also formed to represent an eye 10 and be presently described. One end of the a downwardly extending portion 11 thereof 50 wire is provided with a head portion such is disposed in a plane substantially parallel as is shown at 2 and the wire is then disto the plane of the upwardly extending porposed downwardly for a suitable distance tion 5. As the constructions of the garment as shown at 3, thence curved upwardly as supporter shown in the modification are subshown at 4: and directed upwardly as shown stantially the same as the preferred form, at 5. The upwardly directed portion 5 is and the use or application thereof is also the same a further detailed description of the garment supporters Shown in the modification is not thought necessary.
It will be seen from the foregoing description that a garment supporter has been provided which will obviate the necessity of having to employ the usual limb encircling band and the fastening elements associated therewith for supporting a stocking or sock on the leg of the wearer and furthermore the simplicity of my device enables the same to be easily and readily placed in use and will hold the stocking or sock in proper position and against accidental displacement. A garment supporter of the character described may be manufactured at a very low cost and will be further strong and durable and there are no parts which require adjustment.
While I have shown the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that various changes in the size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted t0 1 Wi hout departing from the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what Itc1aimtis:-..
A garment supporter formed of asingle piece -of wire having a looped head portion formed at one end thereof, said wire being 'disposed-downwardly from the head and thence curved upwardly to provide a stocking receiving 'loop portion, the upwardly disposed portion tangentially engaging the head*portion and extending above the latter, then'bei'ng curved downwardly to provide a fabric receivingloop ortion, the downwardly-{curved portion tangentially engagingtho posite side of the head portion and terminatinga't its free end in a sharp point, all offsaid portions being disposed in the same plane;
