AQUILA NEBEKER, OF PHILADELPHIA, AND GEORGE NEBEKER, OF BRIDGE..
WATER, ASSIGNORS TO MARY BOYS, OE PHILADELPHIA, PA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOYS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 152,671, dated June 30, 1874 application. file April 25,1874.
To all 11i/tom it may concern:
Be it known that we, AQUILA NEBEKER, of the city and county of Philadelphia, and GEORGE NEBEKER, of Bridgewater, in the county of Bucks, both in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Toy; and we do hereby declare the following to be a clear and exact description of the nature thereof', sutlicient 4to enable others skilled in the art to which our invention appertains to fully understand, make7 and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying draw- Y ings making part of this speciiication, in which- Figure l is a front elevation of the device embodying our invention. Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal section thereof. Fig. 3 is a similar View of a modification. Figs. 4 and 5 are side views.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures. i
This invention consists in a toy buzz formed of a disk of paper and a metal rim. It also consists in forming the toy so that it will hum.
Referring to the drawings, A represents the body of the toy, and B the strings that are passed therethrough for imparting the neces sary whirl thereto, the operation of which is well known. The bodies of the toy are constructed of disk O, having rims D on the peripheries or edges thereof, thebrmer being constructed of paper and the latter of metal, so as to properly load the disks. Each disk may be split at the periphery, or two disks may be dished and united at their centers, so
as to form, in either case, a circumferential chamber, G. Openings H are made in the rim i The faces of the disks are such thatadveri tisements may be printed thereon or applied thereto, and yet the body of the disk is sufficiently strong' to withstand the strain of the whirl.
The toy, having the paper body, will also be found to be light, and may be made cheap.
Metal plates may be applied to the center of the disk, and the openings for strings may be eyeleted to insure to the body the necessary strength.
Then the disk is whirled or rotated the action of air, owing to the openings H and chainbers G, causes the toy to hum, thus rendering the same interesting and amusing.
Having th'us described our invention, what we-claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Pat-ent, is-
l. rI he toy buzz having' a body constructed of the paper disk O and the metal rim Droombined and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
2. The toy buzz herein described, consisting of the paper disk O, chamber G, the metal rim D, with openings H, and the string B, all combined and arranged as specified.
