Be it known that l, CARL EUGENE Snus, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Eastland, in the county of Eastland and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Powder Ejectors, of which the following is a speciication.
rlhis invention relates to a powder ejector for use in conjunction with a douche forming the subject-matter of my copending ap plication filed March 15, 1923, Serial No. 625,360, of which the present application is a division.
The object of the invention is to provide a powder ejector of this character which is effective to forcibly eject and spray the powder at the proper time while maintaining the powder in a dry state and while protecting the same up to the time of the actual application of the powder.
Other objects and advantages of the invention reside in certain novel features of the construction, combination and arrangement of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, and in which:

Figure 4 is an enlarged fragmentary view, partly in section and partly in elevation, showing the spring catch of the plunger rod `for the powder ejector.
As shown in the drawings, the powder spray or ejector includes a cylindrical barrel divided by partitions 66 into four quadrantal compartments 67, two of which are adapted to contain a charge of powder, the other two being idle or inactive in this form of the invention.
In each of the active compartments 67 there is fitted a cup-shaped plunger 68. The
plungers 68 are secured to the ends of plunger rod 69 which project eXteriorly of the barrel 65 and which have their exteriorly projecting portions connected by means of a flange 70 to which an operating knob 71 1923, Serial No. 625,366. is fitted to facilitate manipulation of the plungers.
A spring 72 is fitted on each rod 69. One end ot each spring 72 abuts a plunger head 68 and its opposite end abuts the lower head of the cylinder or barrel 65 which head is designated at 78. The springs `72 are so tcnsioned as to tend to move the plungers 68 through the compartments of the barrel and consequently eject or spray the powder.
Means is provided for holding' the plungers 68 retracted and as shown in Figure 1- may comprise a single spring catch 75 similar to those used on umbrellasand cooperable with the lower head 73 of the barrel. lf desired, however, one such spring catch 7 5 may be mounted in cach plunger rod 69 The end of the barrel or cylinder 65 which is disposed at the outer end of the douche in use is of rounded formation and is provided with a fixed top plate 77 for each of the inactive compartments and rotatable top plates 7 8 for the active compartments, the rotatable top plates 78 being adapted to be disposed to close the outer ends of the active compartments or to overlie the top plates 77 and thus leave open the top ends of such active compartments. The top plates 78 are connected by an integral hub portion 78a. Means is provided for operating the rotatable top plate 78 and preferably comprises a. rotatable operating rod 79 extending longitudinally of the barrel through a bearing sleeve 80. One end of this rod is fixed to the rotatable top plate 7 8 and its other end projects below the barrel and is formed with an operating arm 81. The operating arm 81 has integral therewith an operating cam or linger 82 engageable with the catch 7 5 for releasing the same as will be understood from an inspection of Figure 3.
With this arrangement when the powder is to be ejected the arm 81 is grasped and turned to move the plate? 8 so as to uncover the active compartments in which the powder is placed. This automatically releases the plunger rods 69 for the linger 82 releases the catch 75 provided on one of the rods 69 thereby permitting the spring 72 to vforce the plunger 68 through the compartments to effect discharge or spray of the powder.
It is to be understood that if desirable a number of spring catches 75 may be e111.-
ployed along either plunger rod 69 to provide for a veria-ble act-ion, If it should be found desirable to provide a catch 75 on each rod 69 then of course a plurality of fingers 82 Would be provided, since it Would be necessary to have u finger 82 for each catch.
