UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM ELEANUFACTURING C0. MASSACHUSETTS.
P. llIcCORKENlDALE, O'F HOLYOKE, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO MACCO OF HOLYOKE, MASSACHUSETTS, A CORPORATION OF NAPKIN FIXTURE.
Application filed April 23, 1921.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that WILLIAM P. MCCORKIN- DALE, a citizen of the United, States of America, residing at Holyoke, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, has invented certain new and. useful Improvements in Napkin Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in napkin dispensing fixtures and its leading object is to provide an attachment whereby a standard caster may be utilized as a support for one or two napkin dispensing devices, without requiring alteration or mechanical skill in attaching the napkin disensing device or devices to said caster.
With the above and other objects in view this invention relates to certain new and useful constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, clearly described in the following specification and fully illustrated. in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation showing my attachment applied to a caster.
Figure 2 is a plan view thereof.
Referring to the accompanying drawings 5 designates the base of the caster support and 6 the post or standard thereof which carries the caster holding shelf or table 7. On the upper end of the post or standard 6 a table 8 is fixed and above this table an inverted U shaped member 9 is secured. These features of construction are old and well known in the art and this device has been extensively used in public eating places.
In order to equip the device previously described with means for dispensing paper napkins instead of cloth napkins I mount Serial No. 464,331.
a base plate 10 on the shelf or table 8 and and on this base plate I secure the paper napkin dispensing devices 11 and 12 on opposite sides of the U shaped upright member 9. The base plate 10 is provided with a slot 10 to receive the member 9 so that said base plate and its dispensing devices can be positioned on the table 8 by dropping the base plate and its dispensing devices on said table 8 as shown in Figures 1 and 2.
By means of this attachment my improved dispensing fixtures can be quickly applied by any unskilled person to standard casters and napkin fixtures and the whole will present an attractive appearance. The details of my improved napkin fixture are covered in my co-pending application Serial 416,724, filed Oct. 13, 1920.
Having described my invention I claim:
The combination with a condiment holder having a horizontal shelf on its upper end and an inverted upstanding U shaped member extending toward said shelf, the legs of said member being spaced an equal distance from the vertical axis of the shelf, a base having a slot extending for equal distances on each side of its vertical axis and adapted to snugly receive the inverted U-shaped member, and a napkin dispensing device mounted upon the base from each side of said slot and in parallel relation to the slot and the inverted iJ-shaped member, said devices being so arranged that each may be used independently of the other and the base being secured against lateral displacement on said shelf by the interlocking engagement of said inverted U-shaped member with said slot.
Signed by me at Springfield. Mass.
WILLIAM P. MCCORKINDALE.
