K. B. HIBBS DOLL DRESS Filed y 24, 1920 Katharine B. Hz'bbs.
MMQSM Patented Feb. 3, 1925.
KATHARINE B. H1333, OF OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA.
DOLL DRESS.
Application filed May 24,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, KATHARINE B. HIBBS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakland, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in D011 Dresses, of which the following is a speci fication.
This invention relates to improvements in doll dresses, and particularly to a detachable type adapted to be used in connection with flat paper or cardboard dolls.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive device. by means of which a child may be readily and inexpensively taught the correct combination of colors and designs in clothing, especially in girls and womens dresses.
The accompanying drawing illustrates my idea, on which drawing:
Figure l is a front view of the dress in position on a doll.
Figure 2 is a sectional view on a line 22 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary view of the rear of the dress, showing the means for hanging the same on the doll.
Referring to the numerals of reference on the drawings, 1 denotes a base member or backing, preferably of cardboard or similar material, and shaped to conform closely to the figure of a paper doll 2.
On this base may be pasted or otherwise secured a dress design of any desired pat 1920. Serial No. 383,704.
tern, such as is shown at 3, the material used being an 1 scraps of dress fabrics of various colors, such as may be had anywhere. By this means, a child may very quickly be taught the correct color combinations for dresses and also to combine the various scraps to form different designs.
To hang the dress onto a paper doll the base 1 is provided with hooks 4 on the back thereof and near the top, which are adapted to hank over the shoulders of the doll 2. A number of the base members 1 may be provided for a single doll, so that a number of dresses may be put together and the effect compared, or a dress may be pulled off the base and the latter used again,
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and useful is:
In an educational appliance, a design fashioned in the shape of a doll, a base member constructed of cardboard or some similar material and fashioned in the shape of said doll, L shaped pieces of metal attached to the back of said base member ad jacent to the edges of said shoulder portions, a major portion of the length of each piece of metal being parallel to the surface of said base member so that each piece of metal constitutes a downwardly opening hook, said hooks converging downwardly and a dress made up of scraps of cloth of various colors pasted to said base member.
In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature.
KATHARINE B. HIBBS.
